This American black ale borders on IPA territory with a big, fruity and citrus hop bite in a deliciously dark package. Brewed with intense hops--Citra, Amarillo, Simcoe and Crystal--and a dose of midnight wheat to lend its color without any harsh or roasted malt flavors.

Had a pint while visiting the Mills River taproom today 5-23-21 for $6.00.
Beer poured dark brown with a nice white head with the original pour.
Nose was light notes of mild roasted malts and citrus.
Taste was pretty well balanced with the mild roasted malt base giving yield to the west coast grapefruit hops. Finished with a balanced piney hop bite; 5/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel was medium bodied and smooth.
Overall a solid worth black ipa. Glad to see one offered in the taproom!

An excellent rendition of one of my favorite styles and by far my favorite on my visit to the brewery. Pours very dark, has amazing malty and hoppy flavor, super smooth.
