Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler on 9-17-18 for $1.49. Canned on 5-24-18; cold stored since purchase. Consumed on 1-1-19.
Beer poured golden with a beautiful white head that has some great hang time.
Nose has hints of citrus and tropical hops.
Taste is a small pale malt baseline that allows the grapefruit to have the spotlight. Finishes with a piney medium bitterness.
Feel is light bodied and refreshing.
Overall a nice example of a session IPA.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. "Southern Hemisphere Session IPA"
12 fl. oz. can, "PKGD 052418C 14:25"
$22.29/12-pk Southern Hemisphere mix @ Javies Beverage, Philadelphia, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: Well it's clearer than I thought it would be; there are just too many hazy IPAs out there right now. It's got a slight hazy to its golden body and the head is a densely creamy, rocky looking cap of white. In the nose it's citrusy like candied orange with some clear gooseberry/white wine notes that are just as strong. Floral as well, and just slightly pungent or "dank". Interesting! The flavor delivers a solid base of sweetish malt that basic, it's just grainy, and not caramelish at all. That's followed closely by the gooseberry, and then at least for me, the orange. The orange doesn't come through quite as strong as the aroma might have you believe, but it's there. A surprisingly firm bitterness backs it for a beer of 4.5% abv, and it's clearly an IPA in that regard. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. Looking back, the head has held well and there's some very nice lacing left behind. Overall I'll say it's an impressive "session IPA" that's worth looking into.

A thanks to the sultan of session IPA's, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, some citrus. Taste is of light citrus, hints of pine. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is very easy drinking, but it sure didn't quench my craving for some hops.

Lata. De Decervecitas. En copa Teku. En almuerzo, con sopa de arroz. Con los ojos cerrados habria pensado que es un intento de IPA de cualquier macro-industrial espaƱola. Sierra Nevada cada vez decepciona mas

12 oz. can poured into a pint glass. Head over 1", but very thin - dissipated in a minute to just a credit card thickness. Golden yellow with just a bit of haze.
Smells of lemon and malt with just a little pine.
This beer is light on taste, but what little there is decent. A little lemon citrus, some grassiness, and floral finish that lingers long after the sip. Almost shandy-esque on the front end.
Crisp and easy to drink.
Overall, a lighter drinkable beer but somewhat lacking in flavor.

The last of the Southern Hemisphere beers. A light and slightly hazy pour, thin head and a thin skimof lacing. It has a light nose that says, "beer here" but not much else. SN has put a good amount of taste and body for a session, though one at the high end of 'session' at 4.9% ABV. Light touch on the hops. We're not huge fans of session IPAs; we're willing to make this one an exception. Too bad these specialty beers are not available in their regular rotation.

Pours a hazy maize color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of earthiness, citrus hops, slight piney hops, and a hint of sweet malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is a strong bitterness. Tastes of earthiness, citrus hops, slight piney hops, hint of pale malt, slight wheat, and a hint of sweet malt. Overall, good appearance, average otherwise.

Pours a golden-straw color with a slight fog to it. Head is three fingers in height after a steady pour into the glass at 45*. Head remains on top and pillowy for a long time. Aroma is raw barley, wheat, and orange, tropical fruit, and spicy hops. It smells like the brew room of a brewery, lots of hearty barley. Flavor profile is tropical fruits, orange, and tangerine layered over barley, biscuit, bread, and caramel malts. It has a large barley and malty presence. Mouth feel is slightly fizzy, giving it a crisp texture. It has a medium-thin consistency, adding a little to the experience. Overall, a hearty beer for under 5% ABV. Lovely malt display with hops for dynamic contrast.
Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can.

A: Pours a golden yellow color with 2 fingers of head that slowly fades down to a nice cap
S: Lightly spicy, floral, and citrusy hops up front along with a very light malt backing
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the floral and citrusy hop notes and then goes into a nice bready maltiness that holds up well and balances the hops nicely. Finishes with lingering bready malt and light spiciness
M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O: A solid session IPA that is well balanced and not watery. Super easy to drink

Poured into a ~20 oz tulip. Strong citrus aroma with some pine. Yellow-golden color, mostly clear (very slight haze). 1/2 inch white, thick head and recedes fairly quickly, leaving strings of lacing. Thick mouth feel belying its low ABV. Initial taste is grapefruit, continuing in the middle, finish, and aftertaste. There is enough bittering in the finish and aftertaste to provide a satisfying finish. This is a really good session beer. It is more like a APA than an IPA.
