Stricklander (Belgian Style Golden Ale)

Look - clean golden copper color with a great head and sticky lacing
Smell - grainy coriander bubble gum scent - just like the scent but multiplied
Feel - medium body with a slight crisp carbonation
Overall - fantastic!!!

Pours a beautiful, slightly hazy golden amber with a decent white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma is quite strong and very inviting. Fruity, yeasty flavor has a firm malty undertone and is just slightly sweet and very pleasing. Texture is thick, smooth, syrupy, tingly and fizzy.

Reviewed on 10/31/2009. Growler (listed as SN Belgian Triple). Pours a hazy orange with no real head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, melon rind, and peppery spices. Flavor has some light citrusy notes, plenty of peppery spices, and a warm yeasty mouthfeel. Even a touch of bitter hops in there too. Very enjoyable. Great tripel!

Saw a tap handle at Cornwall's that I didn't recognize from SN, so I ordered it blindly. Served in a pint glass. Bright yellow orange color. No real head, which was surprising for a Belgian style ale. Very sweet smell. Taste was pretty close to a nice tripel. Not perfect, but certainly a good attempt. A bit too sweet, and the mouthfeel was a bit too sticky and sugary. If it was a bit more dry, this could be a winner. The sweetness someone hides the abv, so it's not very apparent. I would order this again, but I am glad that I did not pair this with food.

On draft at Bobbique, Patchogue, New York.

Poured a medium straw hue with a half finger foamy white cap. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured candy sugar and a full estery yeast.

The taste consisted of an earthy sweetness and a complex ester.

The mouthfeel was full with a lingering sweetness.

Overall a tasty and user friendly trippel.

This was part of a promotional deal, I guess, at Acadia Cafe. Called there Sierra Nevada Tripel, but I'm not confident enough to create a new category.
Poured with small head. Bright golden color and brilliantly clear.
First noted banana in aroma (not expected). Spicy with a lemon quality. Sweet, fresh, light and fruity. Nice.
Sweet pushing sugary, but not to excess. Phenol, but less than aroma. Adequate dryness precedes a long dry finish. Nice malty character, not quite to toast and stayed closer to bready. Mild spiciness and mild alcohol. Again with some banana flavor, but not too disturbing. Lemon and other soft fruit.
Nicely carbonated, soft but not to effervescent. Moderately light body. Warmth once inside.
Drinks well and easily. Dryness helps tampen down the sweetness and prevents too much richness. Enjoyable.

A: Super bright golden color with only minimal white head. A touch of lacing. Not that impressive looking but fairly close to style.

S: The yeast really came through on this one. A little bit of fruit in the nose. A little bit of sweetness as well. Other reviewers notes the spiciness but I really did not get any at all.

T: Very clean tasting. They really let the yeast do all the heavy lifting on this one. A touch of continental hops in the finish. A really nice clean tasting beer.

M: Bone dry. Tons of candi sugar in this one. It was so over the top I loved it.

D: This went down way easier than it should have and my friend who ordered me an imperial pint clearly is holding a personal vendetta against my liver.

Got to try a couple of 12 ounce pours of this one on tap at the Blind Tiger Ale House in NYC last night and this review is from my notes. Poured light and clear, dull near golden amber. Near white head moderate head atop and middle of the road lacing left on the glass. Nose was fruity and gave hints of the lightly spiced and fruity nectar about to be enjoyed. I would call this one a Belgian golden or even single. Not sure they really committed to a "tripel" here. Moderate Belgian yeasty notes, just a hint of some bubblegum, crisp drying hops late. Very nice attempt, highly drinkable and pleasing American style Belgian. Well worth seeking out or if you find it at your local. Would be great with a summery lunch.

A wonderful attempt at a Belgian Trippel using an authentic yeast strain, rock candi sugar and coriander. Being true to their traditional brewing roots this product is of high quality and taste. The high ABV% makes for a wonderful relaxing experience. Steve Dresler and Scott Jennings really hit the nail on the head with this truly extraordinary product.

Sampled on tap at the Drafting Room in Exton, PA for the debut of this fine beer. The beer poured a very clear, light golden color. Initially deceived as to the strength and quality of the beer. There was a slight white head to the beer the disapated quickly and left a floating island in the middle. There was a spicey, somewhat fruity nose to the beer and a bit of yeasty funk. The taste was spicey as well with a touch of malty sweetness and some additional citrus tastes to balance it all out. This beer is deceiving as hell with the high abv. Not so much in the first but after the second I was really feeling the fullness of the body and really enjoying it. Would like to see more of this in the future if possible.
