odd to me that the menu called this one a new england style, maybe in dry hop intensity only, its clearish and way more cleaned up and refined than i know this style to be, a great beer though, at once unique but also very sierra nevada, i liked it a lot. there is a crazy hop bouquet to this one, for me quite unconventional in aroma and in the first half of drinking it, obvious strawberry, the little wild almost tangy ones, a grassiness like something noble, and then an orange peel vibe, very layered, one aspect or varietal profile after another, at least three or four different stages to it in the taste, really cool. the berry part is whats unique, reminds me of some of the hbc numbered varietals i had last fall while i was up in that part of the world, but im not sure what all they use in this. it has a lighter malt profile than i have generally known from these guys, less of the classic mid crystal, but it still has the bitterness i expect from their hoppy beer, a consistent lineage across so much of it. the dry hop profile is what makes this one stand out for me, a cool effort, real drinkable, and very summery. they did a great job with this, i would love some more details. works with spicy food like green chili as well as it does with more delicate vegetarian fare and seafood. nice!
