On tap at 3rd Avenue Alehouse, NYC.
Pours a clear amber color with a moderate sudsy head that soon dissipates and leaves lacing.
Malty aromas evoke notes of biscuit, caramel and rye. Hops aromas yield a touch of floral hops, light stone fruit and sweet grass.
Taste opens sweet and malt forward with flavors of chewy bready and biscuity malt, caramel, toffee and honey. A developing flavor of rye yields spicy notes. Furthermore, hops bitterness begins to develop especially in the finish, along with flavors of floral hops, apricot and grass.
Medium bodied with a smooth gentle carbonation. Balance oscillates between malty sweetness and hops spice.
A tad sweet and malty for an IPA. Not bad, but not my favorite Sierra Nevada offering.
