This was the fourth beer I had at the Bistro's 22nd annual ipa festival held on April 13, 2019. 1st review I've seen posted anywhere.
Pours a literal golden color, respectable clarity commensurate with Sierra Nevada's pedigree. 1/2" white head. Aroma was grassy, definitely not an aroma hop (Strazacca). Makes me wonder if its a Strata variant? Like a hyrbid of Strata and Azacca?
Anyways, the taste pushes forward with even more grassy bitterness. Typical dry light malt body, not sticky or heavy. There isn't a ton of flavor from this one. Its dry, bitter, grassy and otherwise uneventful. No off flavors. Seems like there are plenty of hops out there already that taste like very little and provide bitterness. I guess if you're looking to make a grassy ipa, this might be the hop vibe worth checking out someday. Its relatively easy to drink, especially at an ipa festival. For me, the weirdness is the hop doesn't have any of the juicy "passion fruit meets pot" descriptor the Strata hop can hit. Its more like Azacca (comparing it to Founders single hop Azacca is better). Although that variety also has tropical descriptors that often do not play out as much in the finished product.
