Grabbed this one at The Reef, which must have picked up a barrel from that special session that the prior reviewer referenced. I will say, though, that - besides the color - this was unlike any blonde I've ever tasted, and seemed to have much more in common with an IPA or heavy pale ale. But either way, a solid brew. Very light copper yellow with a smallish head. Nose and taste were both massive drying hops. Malt was grainy and a touch earthy, but this was a hoppy beer. Overall, not bad, but doesn't touch some of their more seasoned hop-bombs like Celebration.

On tap at Rustico in Alexandria, VA. The bartenders told my wife and I that this was a limited brew from one of Sierra's special sessions. The brewing involved Premium Distributors from Northern Virginia, and thus Rustico was able to get a keg.

Described by sierranevadabill as a Wet Hopped Golden Ale in this thread: http://beeradvocate.com/forum/read/2309134#2313352

A: Poured a bright yellow gold with a good amount of carbonation, a fairly long-lasting white head, and a moderate amount of lacing.

S: The initial whiff was pure hops. We initially just grabbed a 4oz. sample, but after that decided that we each needed a full pint. The malt profile on this one is definitely an American Blonde, and there is a certain crispness to the nose, but rising on top of that is the perfect hop profile--I'm not a homebrewer, but this reminded me quite a bit of FFF Gumballhead, which I believe uses mostly Amarillo hops.

T: A delicate blend of what I believe to be Amarillo hops layered atop a simple yet eloquent malt base. The malt lends a slightly-sweetened graininess to the brew, but for the most part the hops shine through.

M: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a certain light creaminess to the drink reminiscent of the finer blonde ales that I've had, but nothing too overwhelming. The alcohol is certainly not noticeable, and there is an ever-so-slight twang from the grain bill.

D: Sublimely drinkable. After my first whiff of the initial 4-ounce pour, I knew that I was going to want a pint of this. Were it not for the fact that I'd like some other lucky souls to try this one out, I wouldn't have minded sitting at our barstools and have my wife and I put quite a dent in the keg ourselves. I mentioned Gumballhead earlier, and I think that and Russian River's Aud Blonde would be the most apt comparisons to this one.
