12 oz. can poured into a pint glass. Looks to be canned on 4/7/21. Pours a lightly hazy orange golden with a half inch of white foam. Offers decent retention and light lacing.

Nose is fruit forward but also offers some resinous piney notes, and a flash of oniony notes when foam is topped up. Light to moderate to match the pour. Taste follows with citrus and light malts then a fairly lengthy lemony finish given the light body of the beer. Prickly carbonation on finish as well. Overall light and crushable as advertised but nothing memorable. A safe opposite field single to put a marker on the substyle.

Picked up a 6er of this knowing softball season was upon us. Drank one Monday night before the 9-1 win (2-3 at the plate w a diving catch, zero errors for the whole team).

Pours a hazy yellow with 1/3" white head. Looks pretty standard and middle of the road for style. The aroma has a light hoppy nose, light tangerine and papaya was my thoughts on the matter.

Taste is an easy banger as advertised. Light hop notes, even lighter malt notes of just that base hay levity kind of feel. Body didn't really feel like it was flaked oats and/or haze going on. Seemed like just a really light barley base, but either way, this did what it was designed to do: give me a little hop input and something to drink on that won't get me buzzed, it will just push it along and maintain the buzz status quo. There wasn't a real specific hop variety that stood out, but the totality of what they push here is good and serviceable, but realistically, if all we're talking about is 1% difference between this and the perfect SNPA, go with the legend, not the flash in the pan who prolly won't be around much longer.

A: Pours a hazy yellow color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap

S: A mix of citrus, pine, and floral hops up front along with some lighter crackery maltiness

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the citrus, pine, and floral hops. Picks up the crackery malt and some hay. Finishes with lingering citrus notes

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A solid summer session that is very easy to drink. Plenty going on with the lower abv. Worth a drink

12 fl oz pull-tab can:

"Session hazy IPA." 4.6% ABV.

Another victim of the "session IPA" marketing move, which is to say this is a mediocre pale ale at best that they're calling an IPA so it sells better. And I knew that coming in, but I expected a pale ale from Sierra Nevada to be a hell of a lot better than this is (turbid or not).

It's a drinkable beer, but it's an inferior pale ale to Sierra Nevada's iconic flagship Pale Ale, and one wonders why they even bothered brewing this (aside from as a lazy attempt to cash in on the turbid pale ale/IPA/IIPA market)

Hop profile is a bit dull, but fine. Doesn't showcase any specific hop varietal particularly well.

This is a swing and a miss from Sierra Nevada. One I wish would go away and never return.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a very lightly hazed yellow color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading over time to leave a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a cracker malt and a yeasty smell mixed with a little bit of caramel and a touch of hay. Along with these smells comes some nice pine and grapefruit hop as well as a bit of herb.
Taste – The taste begins with a cracker malt flavor mixed with some light caramel, a bit of lemon, and a touch of tangerine sweetness. The very light malt and sweet flavors are accompanied by some hop flavors of grapefruit and herb. As the taste advances the sweetness gets a bit stronger all while the hop transitions a bit, from the original profile to one that has a tiny bit of pine and more grapefruit. In the end one is left with a rather crisp and lightly hopped and sweetened taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light and crisp with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. For the style the feel is great and makes for a nice easy sipper.
Overall – A good and tasty session IPA overall. Not overly flavorful or potent and low in alcohol. Just what it is supposed to be.

Pours with a slight chill haze. The aroma is almost imperceptible at first. Light nutty note on the sip, with a touch of earthy hops mixed in with the fruit punch. It’s an interesting one, and far better than the run of the mill session ipas in its company.

12oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden yellow color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of citrus, lemon, bread crust and caramel. Sweet fruity taste with caramel, subtle pine notes and a touch of bitterness.

An easy drinker that is light on SRM, body, aroma and flavor. Has just enough hop character to be called an “ipa”, though maybe it’s a hoppy blonde. Far cry from a “hazy ipa”. So minus points for pretending to be one, lol. Enjoyable but not memorable.

For a session IPA, this is amazingly full flavored, and even manages a smooth and creamy mouthfeel - obviously not full bodied, but not the watery seltzer water so many Session IPAs come across as.

Notes of lemon and mild dankness. Low bitterness.

Still probably closer to a NEIPA than most are giving it credit for but I’m fine with the “American” listing. 12oz can into a Perfect Pint. Lightly hazed straw-colored pour with a moderate white head. Fruity, floral nose that carries forward some lemon, pine needle, spice, and light crackery/biscuity malt undertones. The palate works on this one, with more flavor than I get on lower-abv; the hops are there, which is nice. I get a lemony bite and some underlying earthiness with pine, some fresh grass and flowers, and mild citrus and dankness. Light body washes away quickly. I’d say this is a pretty good session, better than most even.

That's right....it is a SESSION. If you want a full body Haze, don't drink this expecting to get that. However, if you are looking for something to quench the thirst on that 90-100 degree day but want something more than that lager or pils can give you I definitely recommend this. Think of it as a light Haze. It's got that fruity and mouthy feel but just not as 'on'. Glad I stumbled upon it.

look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Appearance: Pours a hazy (40% opaque), pale, lemon color with a mild white head. SRM of 6-7. (3.75)

Aroma: Strong aromas upfront of orange, and lemon citrus. Some pineapple too. Maybe some dank orange, tangerine, mango, pineapple, and tropical passionfruit. Pale malts underneath. (4.00)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of orange/lemon, pineapple, and some tropical stonefruit upfront. This is followed by an orange, tangerine, resinous peach, and caramel body and sweetness. Completely dry and devoid of any body. Strong carbonation which is cleansing. Ultimately, leaves the fruit flavors lingering one the palate, while also finishing clean. (4.00)

Feel: Lighter to medium bodied. Strong carbonation. Some yeast too. Finishes with a lingering carbonation and yeast on the palate. (3.75)

Compared to Surly's Hell Lager 5/16/21: Stronger and more tropical fruit aromas. More tangerine, mango, and tropical passionfruit. Less lemon citrus, lemonflower, and salty wheat flavors.

Compared to Alaskan Citrus Wheat 6/11/21: Pours a darker and clearer color. Stronger aromas. More orange and lemon citrus and pineapple.

Overall: This is replacing their Summerfest and not really sure how I feel about it. I definitely am not about the haze craze and would much prefer a Kolsch-style summerfest beer. Not that Summerfest was to the Kolsch style anyway. I actually don't think this one drinks too unlike the Summerfest. I'm somewhat impressed by this one and the tropical fruit flavors. It's a dank light beer. I think it drinks quite well for a session summer hazy..... admittedly, as much as I hate to admit this is a decent session hazy beer. (Final Rating: 3.91)

12oz can poured into Duvel tulip. First new beer of the season. Bottom of can printed 040121. Hopefully that's the born on date and not the best before date.

Appearance - Pours massive white head with good retention and slight to decent lacing and stick. Body is opaque, medium yellow. 4.25

Smell - Thin honey notes. 3.25

Taste - Thin and bland. Not bad or offensive, just watered down. 3

Mouthfeel - A little thin and watery. 3

Overall - No off characteristics. Just too mild in general. Maybe okay for a session beer, but not particularly satisfying. 3.75

12oz canned 4-7-21. Opened 5-9-21.
2" white head with great retention.
White-gold with a light haziness. Fresh, sticky lacing.
Tropical nose, and big "green" notes...wet weeds, grass, pine. Lemon peel.
Tart fruit. Lemon, citrus twang. Light, white bread malt. Great flavor in a "small" package.
Medium body, medium + carbonation. Quick hoppy bite and finish with just a touch of sweetness.
Very Good.

Appearance: A eye-pleasing, delicate haziness to an overall, very light, pale gold body. Wispy, frothy head.

Smell: A scent that's lightly tropical, lightly citrusy with shades of kiwi, grapefruit, golden gooseberry and papaya. Subtler touches of florals, pine.

Taste: It presents a thinnish albeit sufficient flavor for a lower-ABV offering. Vaguely bready with a sprinkling of raw, rustic grain flavor within. Tropical fruit infused water garnished with a slice or two of citrus and sprig of pine. Nominal bitterness. Drying finish with a vague hint of coarse grains.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Light and likable.

12oz can dated 4/1/21
Pours pale cloudy light straw yellow. Good carbonation.
Nose is lightly floral and very light malt.
Taste is balanced hop to malt with a bit of lime zest and lemon drop. It finishes fairly fast and the Sierra malt wave peeks around the corner at the end of the the flave wave.
Mouth feel is great. It's very fine for it's style and it is gently hazed with uncommanding hop action. Crushable. A fairly simple beer. I let one get 70F and it's great. Great ingredients and a solid flavor profile for the style.

L: Meyer Lemon bright, stable haze, frothy white cap. I dig the packaging on the can as well.

S: Bright contemporary hops, great given the style and distribution these guys do.

T: So on point. Highly drinkable. Balanced. Is this replacing Pale Ale..? ;)

F: I want this thing in my blood stream.

O:This session hazy IPA is a slam dunk go to. I have such admiration for the company and know first hand how difficult of a style this is. This beer sets the bar for all else to meet on the style, let alone packaged at an affordable price point across the land. Sierra is on fire with this, and I hope to make something as delicious and slammable in this category at my own brewery soon. Well done!
