Very Good
Notes: Grab a pack and let your fest commence! This rich Märzen lager features German malts for inviting aromas of honey and biscuity bread, flavors of caramel and graham cracker, and visions of sprawling beer tents. Smooth and balanced, Oktoberfest is here to celebrate.

L - Poured from a can into a glass mug at a little below room temperature. Almost no head that dissipated quickly. (I fear I waited too long to try this 2021 Oktoberfest the following January 2022.) The color is a wonderful dark amber that catches almost red in the right light of my kitchen.

S - I get a smooth biscuity/warm bready smell up front and a pleasant malt-caramel scent that I enjoy from Oktoberfest/Märzen beers.

T - Once again, the biscuity/warm bread taste up front with a caramel taste through the end. Very smooth taste with almost no bitterness throughout.

F - The overall feel was light on carbonation (probably due to my delay in drinking this a few months late), but the overall mouthfeel was smooth and very easy to drink all the way to the end of the glass.

O - This was a very enjoyable beer that through taste alone was one of the better Oktoberfest beers I've tried. Throughout the years, Oktoberfest-styles are usually my favorite, so it's great to find another one I enjoy. I'll have to revisit next year (assuming it's still the 2021 styling) closer to late September/early October in order to see where it sits in my ranking of Oktoberfests.

APPEARANCE: Clear copper, with a nice head of light khaki/off-white suds. Nice lace, too!

NOSE: Bready, caramel malts, sweet honey, toasty and nice.

TASTE: Toast and toffee again, with a hint of sweet giving way to a touch of bitter hops at finish. Great balance (as an Oktoberfest needs to be) and an enjoyable and faithful interpretation.

9/27/21... pours rich copper amber, somewhat see through, light foam layer that bubbles out. Caramel bready nose. Smooth malty flavor, quick slim bitter that pops up and dies quickly. A touch oaky with smoke hints.

Look: Nearly clear amber-red in color with a nice off-white head that holds some before settling to a lid, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Warm brown bread, earthy hop notes, a little toffee, melanoidin, some bread dough, and caramel
Taste: Bready malt, toffee, and earthy hops hit up front as dough and caramel slowly bleed in and mesh into the mix. The flavors all develop as a whole and individually in depth throughout before bread and toffee close it out
Mouthfeel: Full, very clean throughout, medium-high carbonation, and a clean and crisp finish
Overall: I dig it. I love a good Marzen lager and these folks have made good Oktoberfests for years and are always a yearly fall pleasure. Similar to last year’s one in that it again is a darker, maltier one but like usual, is well-made and tasty. Prost!

No collaboration this year, this is all SN.
Pours amber with a creamy head that rapidly dissipates. Light aroma, with a faint maltiness. The sip follows, with a sticky caramel character. It’s decent, but doesn’t pop.

L: Poured from 12 oz. can into tulip. Perfect deep copper, finger and a half of quickly receding khaki head

S: Roasty malt, dried fruit

T: More roasty malt, subtle sour fruit fading to mild hop bitterness

F: Average viscosity, thin for how malty it is, a little prickly carbonation

O: Quite correct for the type. This reminds me a lot of Ayinger's festbier. Not quite up to the Weihenstephaner collaboration, but still quite nice.

Color is fine but no head retention. Very slight maltiness and thin. Bitter but not much noble hop flavor. Not impressed.

Can from TJs.

A clear deep amber with a dense, off-white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is rather rich with a blend of caramel, and rather surprisingly, some cereal character too. There's caramelized Munich bready sweetness and dark toasted wheat bread. The palate opens with a blend of sweetness- caramel, bread, dark Munich malt, a little cereal- with minimal bitterness. The mid-palate is strangely watery and disjointed, with a mild mineral character. Drying with a little sweetness on the finish, where the watery character gets worse. Poor.

Can poured into a Sierra Nevada Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours vibrant copper amber with a frothy tan head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little nice lacing.

S: Toasty almost nutty malt, floral, subtle earthy spice, slight grassy herbal notes, and toffee sweetness.

T: Toasty bready malt, light floral notes, a touch of spice, grassy herbal tones, toffee sweetness, and a hint of orchard fruit, pear, apple, and yellow plum.

M: A touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: My only gripe is it sits on the sweeter side and I think I'd get overwhelmed by richness after 1 round if I tried to pair this with a plate of sausages. Overall a really solid Marzen that I wish was just a little drier.

A: Poured from the can into a V-shaped, wider-mouthed pilsner-type glass. Body is light copper-amber with a 1-finger dense, khaki-colored head on top.

S: Nose of caramel malt, toasted bread and grains.

T: Clean malts - caramel malt, toasted bread, and a faint grassiness at the finish. Modestly sweet, but clean overall.

M: Light in heft, modest carbonation.

O: Good; an easy drinker, appropriate to style.

Pours a beautiful crystal clear amber color with a substantial, frothy light tan head that provides ample lacing. Gorgeous beer. The nose is a bit on the syrupy side, with sweet caramel the most prominent aroma.

The taste has a heaping helping of the sweet caramel, which is nice, but the winner for me is the subtle grassy flavor that keeps this beer away from Cloyingville. Really good stuff.

The mouthfeel is medium and crisp, and works well with this Marzen, IMHO.
