Brewed with the help from our friends at Pizza Port near San Diego. This beer is a deep russet-brown with heady malt aromas. It has layers of roasty, malt-driven flavors, with notes of chocolate and smoke and hints of black cherry-like fruity highlights. The beer finishes medium-dry and is surprisingly drinkable for something so complex.

Poured out a dark black color. Not a fan of really heavey beers to begin with. Didn't notice much of a head to it. Bitter aftertaste. Aroma was descent. Probably wouldn't purcahse it. I am a fan of Sierra Nevada just not this type. Always wanted to give this Porter a shot and finally got the chance just did not live up to my expectations.

Black color without much in the way of head. Has a taste of whiskey barrel along with very sharp and woody flavors. Spicy with chile-like heat, but maybe it's the alcohol combined with the acidity. A winey kind of sharp mouthfeel with a medium body. Aromas of chocolate and roast barley. Peculiar stuff, I don't find this very drinkable, and certainly less pleasant than other Baltic porters
On tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach.

On-tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad
A: The pour is an impenetrable black color with a minimal tan head forming and leaving a thin ring around the glass.
S: The nose is quite roasty with some dark chocolate, coffee, and molasses. Licorice and dark, almost burnt, sugar provides some more sweetness.
T: Lots of roasted malts and an almost smokey flavor. Quite sweet with plenty of licorice, molasses, and dark caramel. This is a very sweet beer, much more so than I would have expected.
M: The body is medium with a low, smooth carbonation.
D: A little too sweet to be able to drink much of this, but still a good beer. I think I prefer Empire Strikes Black, though.

On draft at PPort San Clemente (5/18/10) along with F&K 30th, B'Foot, Glissade & So. Harvest. Something about this beer... has a hard to finger quality that keeps one yearning for more. MSG? poured into a 12 oz house tulip, dark chocolate color with a thin head which quickly dissipates leaving a tiny bit of lacing. a little chocolate & roast in the nose, it was served a bit cold for my druthers, as it warmed those same aromas became a bit more pronounced along with a bit of coffee and toffee. incredibly creamy mouth feel - like a Nescafe, but tastes much better... it does have hints of coffee in the malt, but hardly overpowering. Pretty heavy for a porter, but definitely worth a return visit - if I can find it again.

Baltic or imperial porter? Sticky yet balanced. Some coco and coffee and a little toffee. Needs more dark roasted burnt kinda flavors maybe. On tap at O'Briens SD. Cool to try. Drinkable but not a lot of complex flavors. Has sone real cola flavors. Nice porter.

On tap at the SN brewery. Brought to the table in a pint glass and I view a black ink liquid with a nice creamy small beige head and nice lacing. Dark fruity aroma with some coffee characteristics, roasted malts and nuttiness. Roasty, coffee taste with bitter dark chocolate, wood and burnt toast in there as well. Excellent! Incredible smooth and silky mouthfeel. Full bodied heaven. Drinkability is good though this was a sipping beer for me to prolong the session. This is a great cold night or dessert brew and one I hope is bottled someday. Great stuff.
