Bask in the sunny little thing, a wheat ale made with citrus for radiant flavor that’s bold yet easy going, and balanced by a soft and smooth finish.

In Sunny Little Thing, we want that big ball of citrus to shine. That's why we pull back on the bitterness: no shade on this parade. While there’s plenty of oats and wheat malt for a smooth mouthfeel, Sunny has hardly a dash of hops, allowing the fruit character to leap forward. We infuse the citrus in bright tanks — think of it like dry hopping an IPA to boost aroma — using an exclusive blend of crystalized juice squeezed right from real oranges and grapefruit.

Not a big fan of wheat ales as they don't usually have a whole lot of flavor, but this one is different. It is light, very good citrus taste, and slightly refreshing. It has a biscuity malt base and a nice smooth finish. Much better than I expected. 10 IBUs Rated 11-6-2022

This was an exceptional beer. I read they put just minimum amount of hops in there to let the citrus do their job (oranges and grapefruits they say) and I can tell you it is amazing! It tastes like mandarines/tangerines and the taste gets stronger with time. It is also extremely refreshing, makes you feel you want to keep drinking it on and on - it is like a fruit soda, although has a much smoother feel to it. Very orangey, I love how it feels, like Japanese mikan? No real hints of wheat detectable, just pure oranges all the way.
Truly exceptional. Doesn’t taste too much like a beer though but it is a fantastically pleasant drink.

Copenhagen 8/2 2024. 35,5 cl can from Meny, Vermlandsgade, Kbh. S. Red can in Sierra Nevada's usual Little Thing design.

Pours unclear yellow with a mid-sized, bubbly white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin, flimsy patch of foam floating in the middle of the glass. No lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet fruity odor mingling with tart citric scent. Sweet blood orange, peach and apricot. Sharp acerbic citrus. Herbal touch.

Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly more moderate tart bitterness. Aftertaste is tart with a distinct sweet undertone. Lingers shortly. Finish is semi-dry.

Sweetish Wheat Ale which fails to impress.

Not a wheat beer fan and this is in line with that style but this also includes a thump of citrus snd subshine that just pushed me away. I'll stick with the IPA versions of Hazy Little, not a fan of theses cross-style wheat/pilsner extensions.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a Shaker pint glass, the package date is "072723" making this beer just over a year old, not ideal, I really need to check dates before I buy.

APPEARANCE: Pours a hazy, gold color with one-finger white head that quickly dissipated until just a ring of small bubbles remained around rim of glass, no lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: This beer is faint to the nose, orange and grapefruit citrus.

TASTE: This is a very interesting beer, sweet orange and grapefruit citrus, the taste profile almost mimics hops but there are little to no hops in this beer, it's not bad.

PALATE: This beer has light body and medium carbonation, it's somewhat creamy.

OVERALL: SN is still one of the all time best brewers, they never disappoint me and have national distribution so I can enjoy their beers wherever I go, this one was fun because the taste profile reminded me of an NEIPA but there were little or no actual hops in this beer, SN brewers are just really good at what they do and are very creative and imaginative, well done.

I wondered if I had written my review for this yet. Good check. Anyhoo, the entire series is pretty reliable so I pretty much pick up a 6 pack of every one of them, this was no different.

Pours a color somewhere between orange and amber. Clarity isn't its friend, but perhaps that is just a boatload of wheat obscuring it all up. You make me wanna take a holiday. Doesn't really make much in the way of head formation. A rare miss for Sierra Nevada in the appearance category. The aroma is citrusy wheat, evocative of the old Amarillo hop that probably isn't in here.

The taste is much akin to a less witbier bluemoon, more citrus, more smoothness in the mouthfeel. Its also the rare barely hopped Sierra Nevada beer. Way smoother than their previous red label flagship-esque for a wheat beer one. Think like that wheat beer red label of the 90s. If you want an orange and sweet grapefruit like bomb, check this one out. Definitely more of a summer vibe to it.

Note: I am in the process of moving all of my ratings from other beer sites to here, so that all of my ratings are consolidated in one place. The review below is an exact copy of my original RateBeer review from 03/19/2022.

12 oz. can, 5% ABV

AROMA: Heavy scent of sweet lemon and grapefruit. The lemon scent really reminds me of the Lemonheads candy of my youth.

APPEARANCE: Pours a cloudy yellow. In a clear glass, it really looks like freshly squeezed lemon juice. Except with a small, tight, white head that dissipates slowly and has minimal lacing.

TASTE: Slightly sweet with flavors of sour lemon and grapefruit. There is an odd kind of "tin" taste that I think comes from the lemon not quite pairing well with the grapefruit. The finish is medium-long and mostly sour and dry.

MOUTHFEEL: Thin-bodied with, what I would call, a "resistive" texture. Which basically means that it is going to cause your tongue to slightly stick to the inside of your mouth, rather than easily slide around.

OVERALL: This is your typical grapefruit wheat beer that has been so popular the last 6 or 7 years. Unfortunately, it is not a great rendition. The flavor combination is a bit lacking, and the wheat beer itself, is just mediocre. If you want a grapefruit beer, then there are way better options out there. Which is a shame, because I've really enjoyed a lot of the other Sierra Nevada beers. For whatever reason, they really missed the mark with this beer.
