Stein Alt is an old style German ale, golden in color with an interesting coffee-like malt flavor, paired with fruity aromas balanced by a moderate dose of whole-cone hops making it clean, complex, and amazingly drinkable.

Appearance: amber in color with a 1" head that lasts a while.

Smell: some earthiness comes through to the nose.

Taste: nice malt profile with some bread, a nice nuttiness, some ripe dark fruits, and an earthy bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Lightly crisp throughout. Earthiness and bread lingers on the tastebuds for a while.

Overall: this beer is well done and is very satisfying.

Had on tap. Cloudy dark amber with a white head. Earth, toffee, and subtle bread with kiss of citrus on the back end of the smell. Taste is much the same only the malt gives us spectacular roasted nuts, toast, a hint of coffee, and the hops play only better to style with herbal accents. Feel raises as you drink, earthy ascending through bready and malty all the way to somewhat airy, beautiful. Was shocked by this one, glad I ordered

On draft at Rattle n Hum, NYC.

Poured a dark copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured am herbal hop and clean caramel malt.

The taste consisted of a toasted malt and grassy/herbal hop.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a superior alt. Well done.
