At Christmas I had a few glasses from a growler filled at the brewery.
Very piney and reminiscent of another well-known IPA also brewed in NorCal which happens to be named after a certain Roman naturalist. Clean finish, pretty quick (which I prefer), meaning I did not have a lingering note of bitterness after swallowing. Is it in the same league? I would say yes, at least to my unsophisticated palate. It was very nice and easily enjoyed. Even the family members who are not IPA devotees liked it, and noted the lovely nose. Too, while I often find SNBC beers to be too malty for my taste that was not the case here.
This beer is an example of a certain combination of skill and genius, an IPA which is approachable and easily appreciated by people who might normally shy away from this genre. The "lupulin threshold shift" begins with delicious beers like this.
The name, it was explained to me, came about because of a Pac-Man arcade game at the brewery.

Straw yellow pour w/ spotty lacing and decent retention. Nose is candied citrus, mango, and green apple skin. Taste is cantaloupe, pine resin, apricot, and a hint of red berry. Stick to your teeth bitter finish. Prickly mouthfeel.
