West Coast flavors explode in Pacific Torpedo IPA. An ode to the resinous pine and citrus aromas that put IPA on the map. This coastal classic brims with Magnum, Chinook, CTZ and Idaho 7 hops.

Part of a variety 24-pack Costco $33.99
93 days old
Smells of citrus, pine
Clear golden amber-tinged color
Medium mouthfeel
Medium carbonation
Taste of pine, citrus, resin, bitterness
Overall a good beer. The bitterness is the right amount for me for this style as it is not overly bitter. Basically a well balanced beer.

Very bright gold, almost lagerlike looks. Aroma and taste are great. The sampler is full of winners.

Classic WCIPA, super clear, gold , rising carbonation bubble stream. Disappointingly thin head initially, but a thin film of foam is pretty persistent. Decent lacing. Not a lot of smell. Hop bitterness. Almost more enjoyable with food unless bitter is your thing.

Pours a bright & effervescent gold with a pinky of eggshell colored head. Stellar lacing & good head retention

S: Some tropical fruit, a touch of breadyness, green melon & guava once warm

T: Follows the nose, dryness, green melon & lemongrass up front. Grapefruit surfaces, dryness, grassy notes, just a touch of cattyness once warmed up. Finishes with a little pine, some grapefruit & a little green melon

MF: Medium, lively carbonation, okay balance

Claims it's a West Coast IPA, not really getting that other than the grapefruit. Drinks easy enough, I really feel more heft is needed. Had so much higher hopes

Look...Pale yellow wheat color and I believe more reminiscent of a NEIPA to me. a fine white carbonated head
Smell...always the least spectacular of the macro breweries is the aroma. Faint and nice but always faint to me. A very faint combination of citrus and bittersweet hop
Taste..A whiff of grapefruit and melon with a biting swift kick of Chinook hops on the back end causing an underlying bitter lip smack.
Feel...the usual SN repetition of ideal astringency with ample lacing to establish texture.
Overall...This was excellent rendition on the base beer. Has a little something extra and fresh I get from this. I am glad to drink the Torpedo Variety pack anytime and Enjoy fresh anyhow anyway.

Pours an almost clear golden straw color with a fluffy white head that leaves a very nice cap on the beer and lots of lacing. Gorgeous WCIPA.

The nose is slightly dank citrus and resiny pine, as expected from the label. The resiny pine is more pronounced on the taste, providing a nice bit of bitterness that is by the subtly dank citrus flavor.

The mouthfeel is very dry, on point for the WCIPA style. This is really well done, and a beer I’d add to my regular rotation if Sierra Nevada made it available more often.

12 oz bottle into a Becker glass.
L: SRM 4 pours a 97% clear radiant golden Amber color with a 3/4" slightly off white puffy head that recedes to soft froth, steady light carbo, very solid webbed lacing btwx heavy back banding.
S: Lemon, grapefruit, citrus, a lightly spicy hop note, caramelized malts.
T: Fruity caramelized malts, citrus zest of lime, lemon, grapefruit. Pine resin, a note of grains, lemon & grapefruit zest linger in the finish along with some pine. It is very lightly yeasty.
F: Gently brisk medium bodied feel with a medium length lightly drying finish. It gets a little bit smoother over time.
O: A gentle IPA from SN. Tastefully done with nothing out of the ordinary. Ordinary and very easy to drink. Exhibits all the good trains from the style. It is excellent to outstanding.

Pacific Torpedo

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

IPA - American

Sweet pine of the hops cone. Slightest of golden liquid haze. Peppery cracker malt.

Orange peel earth notes round it out. Easy to drink, not a bad supermarket grab.

Bottled on: 11-15-24

A - Light medium gold with an ever so slight bit of haze, lacing is bright white and thin, carbonation is light.

S - Pine with some resiny citrus and a little bit of tropical fruit and some spiciness.

T - Citrus up front with grapefruit and some spiciness with an underlying and lingering piney bitterness along with a slight bit of earthiness on the back side.

M - Medium body with prickly carbonation.

O - Way better than I anticipated, especially being three months old. Held up extremely well.

Picked up a Torpedo 12-pack from Harris Teeter in Asheville on 1-18-25 for $15. Packaged on 11-15-24, consumed 2-9-24.

Beer poured gold with a very nice white head that has some very good hang time.

Nose is giving me hints of floral and citrus hops.

Taste is a nice biscuity malt base and is hopped by your classic C hops that give a grapefruit and pine flavor. Getting hints of peach playing in the background. Finishes true to the west coast style; 7/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and smooth.

Overall, another nicely done Torpedo variant.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace. It smelled of grapefruit, orange, caramel and pine. Sweet caramel and tropical fruit taste with a sharp bitterness.
