Unique brew #200 from SNBC.
Acquired 2 - 375ml bottles as part of my half share in the 2024 Alpha Hop Society as part of the "Dessert" theme on 12-14-24. Sampled bottle #1 for review 5-20-25.
Beer poured black with a very nice brown head that has a ring of hang time as i sip.
Nose is very nice as the essence of the three barrels bring chocolate and orange from the respective bitter barrels. The rum barrel brings some vanilla.
Taste follows the nose as the malt base is mildly roasted, and it has absorbed the chocolate and orange bitters nicely as the subtle flavors are well played. The time spent in the wet rum barrels lend a touch of vanilla and a ton of heat. Very reminiscent of barrel aged beers from 10-20 years ago.
Mouthfeel is very nice, medium to large bodied and very soft with each sip.
Overall, this is a nice beer that needs to age for a few years to mellow out and hopefully improve.

Keeping the rating the same. This is still a pretty hot beer as the rum barrel has not mellowed much. Still an enjoyable sipper on this 25 degree day!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
