Tequila Barrel-aged Orta Vez from Sierra Nevada. Cork and cage 12 fl oz bottle purchased from Sierra Nevada on-line, Chico, CA, ordered 04/10/25 received 13/10/25 - $18.00 (Free shipping!)/$ 0.783/fl oz. Reviewed 14/10/25, review 3611. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated bottle. Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 45.1 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 51.4 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), slight haze.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), slight haze. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour). White, high density, average retention, leaving a 0.15 - 0.4 cm crown and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – Fair. A few random figures of near-microscopic bubbles decorate the glass.
Aroma – 3.75 – Weak lime and tequila, no hops, no malt, no alcohol.
Flavor – 4.5 – Salty with lime and overtones of smoky tequila. No hops, no malt, no alcohol (6.4 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Thin: Watery: Soft but lively carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated container) Uncredited art work. Excellent gose! Put me down for a case of cans!
