Had a Friends of the Family pour while visiting the Chico Taproom with Mrs. CC on 3-12-26 for $7.00.
Beer was served dark brown with a very nice tan head that had some hang time.
Nose had notes of very light char, some chocolate, and a touch of citrus.
Taste was a moderate dark malt base that emitted notes of caramel and a wee bit of chocolate. Hopping was very mellow despite the IBU count. Got a touch of peach and orange that was complimentary while the back end gave me a balancing almost non-perceptible piney hop; 5/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel was medium bodied and pretty smooth.
Overall, a solid Black IPA - a style i usually try to have when available.
