Most IPAs are best when fresh. But what if we took one of our biggest IPAs...and barrel-aged it. The idea that wouldn't let go: Barrel-Aged Atomic Torpedo. Assertive, yet refined. Aging mellows the hop pine and citrus flavors blending them with whiskey-barrel notes of caramelized dark sugar, toffee, and bourbon. An unlikely pairing begets a perfect match.

Picked up 3-500 ml bottles from the Mills River Gift Shop on 5-7-26. Presumably bottled in April 2026; consumed bottle #1 for review 5-28-26. Poured at 58 degrees.
Beer poured deep gold slanting towards brown with a very nice long lasting white head.
Nose has notes of pale malts, floral and citrus hops. The barrel gives me a light touch of vanilla and whiskey.
Taste is pretty bold as the citrus and floral hops dominate the pale malt base up front. The back end brings a deft touch of vanilla and bourbon, finishing with a pine bitterness at the back of the palate; 6/10 on my bitterness scale.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall, i like that the barrel has taken the sweetness and balanced this and actually makes the pine on the back end more pronounced. Nice job Sierra!
