Enjoyed in a shaker pint at Flanny's.

Cherry red, the color of bing cherries. Perfectly clear, and a beautiful color. Half a finger of sky-white head quickly becomes a thin top layer with a sticky ring.

Sweet and citrusy nose. Lots of sugar, caramel and tangerine.

Mild hop flavor, with sugared orange and tangerine peel. It’s still pretty sweet, but there’s a better hop balance. Just a little mango as it warms, with very subtle toasted biscuit in the back. Big bitterness.

Medium, smooth body with high and nearly painful carbonation. Breaks into a lot of fizz as it moves. The lovely body offsets the big sugars a bit.

Love Potion No. 9 this ain’t. Nothing special, but drinkable enough.

A recipe brewed @ Sierra Nevada by the owner of Flanny's in Tempe, AZ. Had this at a Sierra Nevada Tap Takeover @ Flanny's on 5/17/12. The name comes from the ingredients, raspberries and cocoa nibs, and the beer stats, 69 IBU and 6.9% ABV.

A: Beautiful amber color (almost purple) with a fluffy, quickly fading white head. Good lace and retention.

S: Fruity malt. Raspberry stands out. Hops are there but faint.

T: Incredible flavor. Fruity, slightly hoppy, and great toasted malt. The ingredients come through very well. Raspberry is there as are the cocoa nibs. Subdued but provide great flavor. As if it were a surprise, the finish is like a chocolate-covered raspberry. The only downside might be the lack of a strong hop presence expected in most IPA's.

M: Smooth, sweet, and easy drinking. Good tingle from the carbonation. Enough hops to remind you it's an IPA.

O: One very fine beer. An enjoyable, fruity IPA. Hopefully this shows up at a few more bars so other people can experience a great beer created with the help of Sierra Nevada. Well done.
