Grizzly Beer pours a clear golden color, visible carbonation and frothy white head with decent retention.
The nose yields fruity esters from the yeast; pear, peach and melon. There is also an aroma of malty sweetness.
The taste is sweet; malty, bready and with a touch of caramel. The fruity esters are not as prevalent as in the nose. A light peppery spice balances things out a bit. The finish is semi dry and moderately spicy.
Medium bodied with a gentle carbonation. Smooth, perhaps derived from wheat, and not so crisp as I’m accustomed to from the style. Mouthfeel is a little viscous, caramel lime and less dry, again, going a bit against style.
It had a nice flavor overall, however, not very Saison like.
