gorgeous beer, a surprise from these guys a little bit, have not really known them to be a saison maker in the past, but i was quite impressed with this, especially in a summer context, such an easy drinker, clean not funky which i generally dislike in the style, but this is very mild on the fermentation, even if it is slightly generic, and it comes through to me a little more belgian than french which is to its credit in this instance. i did not get the beer details but i am suspecting raspberry in this, maybe hibiscus too, the color is soft but electric pink almost neon with some mild haze and a lasting white head from the keg, looks a touch dense for its low abv, but the color is stunning. definite raspberry character in the nose and taste here, tart and ripe and real, summery and clean and tangy and bright, with some floral hibiscus radiance and maybe a little bit of a vinous grape element too, all super well integrated and unified. its juicy but not sweet, bone dry in fact, and these flavors, especially the hibiscus, really are awesome with the yeast esters, green pear and white pepper come out to me, and there is a nice wheaty heft to the base that gives this some creamy body and smoothness, love that, especially being so low alcohol. more wine character as it warms, a hint of cranberry and plum too, a bit of acidity from the berries, real cool interplay between all the elements and very well refined overall. high carbonation gives it a great lift, and this comes across as super unique and professional. i dont often rate clean saison this highly, but this is fire. also, they have a beer called back door that sounds similar, but this was presented to me simply as saison rose, must be a couple of versions of it. would love to try that one too, as this was dialed! a new side of red rock im really digging!
