Birthday Suit has a thin, white head, a translucent orange appearance, and clinging & ascending bubbles. There is some splotchy lacing. The aroma is of tart citrus, cream, and pale malt. The taste is similar with a touch of hop bittering. Birthday Suit has a medium body and a semi-sweet finish.

12oz can poured into a snifter. Pinkish semi-hazy pour, minimal head fizzles quickly away. Lemon-y nose filled with blackberry tartness, with lactose poking through at times...blackberry/lemon spritzer with notes of blueberries, fruit pie and confectionary sugar. Tart light body, effervescent and clean with a crisp finish.

Pours a pinkish color with almost no head. Smells tart with lemon being the main scent. Flavors are berry and lemon with a nice tartness but not only sour. Smooth and refreshing.

a shame this series has devolved to a canned generic sour, i remember some of those old super funky cork and cage large format brews, used to look forward to them each year, now we have something quite basic, good and summery and all, but a little cheap and forced on the fruit, and without much of a fermentation profile at all, far less exciting and ambitious than the anniversary series beers used to be, a far cry from them really, they maybe should have used a different name for this, preserving the integrity of that line, but whatever, it is what it is. a little cloudy pinkish purple hue to this from the can, nice and frothy headed, blackberry and lemon in the mix, but its the lemon that stands out in front to me both in aroma and flavor. to me its a little less than fully natural, not quite candied, this isnt too sweet, but its just like canned lemonade or something, like i know its not whole fruit or just juiced and zested, its some concentrate or extract or something, even lightly metallic too, and enough of it is added here to make that kind of obvious, and it puts this into an almost shandy or radler realm. the blackberry seems more natural, a light jam thing to it, but well behind the lemon. i like the little bit of clean acidity this has, just tart without being sour, keeping it quite drinkable if the fruit flavor isnt too much for your tastes. to me there is some harmony between the blackberry and the lemon, unequal as they are here, and the clean lactic pucker is rightly proportioned, especially with all this carbonation, definitely a summer refresher, but the beer overall seems cheap to me, somewhat unnatural, and a long way off from the glory of the original birthday suit series. more of a mass appeal thing here. not bad, but i miss the old ones even more after this...
