coconut lager with wakatu hops, great idea and solid execution, the hops and the coconut work great together, and this sturdy pale lager base seems just right for it, perhaps it could be a little lighter and lower in alcohol, but i like its substantial nature to uphold and balance these flavors, it seems rightly proportioned to me, and it was great to find this on tap. ever so slightly cloudy and with just a short lived white head, its not visually remarkable, but the aroma and flavor are excellent. the coconut is fleshy, real, and ripe, with an almost coconut water vibe, subtle but obvious at the same time, and the hops bring herbal and limey character to the mix, nice against the pale malt in here and the bready lager yeast, a little citrus pep, but this isnt cocktail-esque, sweet, or overdone, its not suntan lotion either, the coconut is well dosed and so natural, i love it. i could maybe use a little more carbonation in here, this is short of refreshing even though the flavors go that way, but its not still either. i really dig the hop choice for this, like the little bit of late bitterness and all the summery character they bring, great pairing with the coconut. this is very good, better than much of the rest of the field in this category, and i could have had a bunch of these. great addition to their lineup!
