Poored out a dark honey brown with a small off white head, bubbly. The nose has lots of good malt, some mild hopping, and a bit of honey character. This tastes bigger than a normal lager, almost like a dark beer. Has a fantastic malt flavor, nice yeast and malty backdrop. Immensly drinkable. Has a good mouthfeel, slightly carbonated.

Served direct from the tank at the brewery.
Served as a Deep amber colored with with moderate white chunky head. Nice retention.
Smell is a nice combination of caramel and toffee with some dark fruits also mixed in. Excellent
Taste is even better than the swell with rich fruit and caramel notes blending very nicely.
Rich and full in the mouth with great taste retention.
I admitted to my server that I really wasn't much of a lager fan, but this beer really tasted great. Good session beer.

11/23/2006 $5.50 1 liter bottle conditioned in a flip-top ceramic bottle.

Appearance:

Pours a beautiful dark orange/brown speckled with highlights of claret topped by over an inch of tight tan head that settles slowly leaving some lacing behind.

Aroma:

Subtle dark ripe fruit notes, though nothing in particular jumps out on the nose.

Taste/Mouthfeel:

Great mouthfeel precedes a nice biscuity/malty flavor combo. There is an underlying nuttiness (cashew perhaps) throughout that melds into a nicely sweet finish.

Another excellent session beer from Defiant, this is easy to drink, and not too complex on the palate, this could easily be Defiant's flagship beer, and I have a feeling that with the name Neill has chosen that it may become just that.
