Highland Porter

This beer was not the typical porter that I expected; more towards the smokey end of the porter spectrum. It poured a very dark brown body with a minimal tan head that reduces to an ok lacing that dissipates later. The smell was pretty bitter and smokey. The taste was bitter as well with a smoke finish that was interesting. The mouthfeel was solid and full-bodied. Did not seem too drinkable. A little too bitter for me and the smoke aftertaste got to me a little bit later. Overall, I'd say it was a nice porter, but the smoke finish did not ring well with me as I drank more of it. It was served slightly warmer than I expected, so this may have affected the way I was tasting it.
