Had at the brewery 9/22/09
Good color, deep dark amber. Just a little red around the edges when held to the light. Nice, off white head. very small bubbles. Just a little bit of lacing, could have used a bit more.
Good smell. obvious nut flavor on the nose, with a nice malty, bready background. perhaps just a little spice too. I also get some dried leaves, almost a woodsy smell. Interesting aromas, they could have something good here.
Taste was of dark english malts, and semi sweet, woody, buttery nuts. Hop kick on the finish.
Mouthfeel was a little bit light, although it works for the style. On the low side of carbonation, but not a huge problem.
Very drinkable beer. This would be perfect after an afternoon of raking leaves. Room for improvement, but overall a nice beer.
