Brewed as a benefit for the campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Steve Novick, who is my kind of guy. Steve also has a prosthetic hook for his left hand, hence the name of the beer.
Poured from the 22oz bottle into a pint glass. Body is a slightly cloudy golden hue, topped by a thin, wispy white head. Swirls of tiny bubbles keep rising from the bottom of the glass until the end with this one. Aroma of crisp pilsner malt, mild, fruity hops, and a hint of vegetal character.
Palate is mellow malt up front, blending with mildly fruity hops mid-palate. A slight vegetal character emerges here as well. Crisp lager yeast yields a nice, refreshing finish. Body is decent, light but not too thin. A refreshing lager for a warm spring evening, and for a great cause!
