6-pack of 16 oz cans purchased from Wallace Road Plaid Pantry in West Salem
$7.99
Can't see how it looks as i am scoffing directly from a can.
Aroma malty .no trace of hops.
Taste malty, honeyish..slight floral hop..very slight.
Mouthfeel is medium and the carbonation also. Very good for this style.
Not a bad lager. But still prefer Ranier.

Northwest Lager is next on the review table. I served at 42 degrees in a belcher glass. Visiting an old co-worker and catching up on life, I was gifted a few beers. Sadly my friend does not do a good job taking care of beer or how old they are. I am reviewing this one anonymously; he says it is new. A frothy and airy bright white two-fingered head was created from the pour. The quick dissipation of this beer left a smidge of lacing on the glass—the color charts around SRM 2, pale straw. The clarity is brilliant, with not much else going on. I was expecting to see bubbles within, but I did not. The appearance is on average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I get a perfumey flower aroma that is different. Swirling the glass, I recheck the smells. I detect crackers, a light biscuit, a touch of cereal grains, and a soft pine note. My nose tells me they added different hops than usual for an American lager. Not surprised; Ninkasi does not follow the status quo.
The American lager created here has more body and hops than usual; I like this beer. The flavors are biscuits, crackers, soft pine, and perfumey, light cereal grains. I am glad this beer shows no signs of aging or lousy mishandling.
The mouthfeel is light and soft, finishing clean. The body is lightweight and has a medium-light carbonation.
Surprised; this is a refreshing summer beer to enjoy on a hot summer day.

Look: Clean and golden yellow on the pour which yields a sudsy white head to form and rapidly settle to a lid, leaving nice lacing behind
Aroma: Cereal grains, some soda crackers, wafts of floral hops, some lime, straw, and some light honey. Not super deep here
Taste: Better on the taste as it starts off with some cracker-led malt and steeped grains that work nicely together before straw, light floral hops, and lime enter the frame. Closes with more grains and crackers
Mouthfeel: Light but decently full, very clean, medium-high carbonation, and clean and crisp on the finish
Overall: I dig it. I’ve wanted to try this for a bit as it struck me as Ninkasi’s dive into the ‘macro alternative’ market and I was hoping it would stack up to others in the same mold (Pub Beer, Session, Red Can, etc.). I say it does as its decently flavorful, doesn’t have any off-putting notes, and hits the spot on a warm day. Props Ninkasi

12oz can. Clear golden pour, small frothy white head. Grainy aroma, cereal, bready. Taste is clean grainy flavors with a dry finish. Little kick of hops, barely noticeable. Tasty, though.
