A surprising find at Arbor Brewing... Only had two versions of this style, but in comparison with the industry standard (Kindl) this is a "lite-beer" interpretation. Pours ghosty pale with a soft glow as the carbonation is moderate far from strong enough to make any head or other showing. Smells of thin sour strands with a moderately acidic core. The wheat base is barely present but paired with a sweetish barley malt tinge.
Had to keep on wiping my slate and palate clean before each sip. I am a dedicated Arbor patron, and thus wished to compliment this beer. Well, its not hard to drink but fully underwhelming for the beer enthusiast. The thin sour strands continue on the palate, rolling in with a modest show. Lacked the acidity, brightness, or sharp finish of a finer version. Altogether the sour backbone left as quickly and unimpressively as it entered, having more refinement but less power than a normal ale infected by mistake.
In other words, weak by any judging standard. Then again, its a brewpub and you can't scare the patrons... Should note that I noticed no raspberry or woodruff syrup offered to mix in the beer.
