Brown it is, somewhere in the light-medium range with a deep scarlet hue in the light and at the edges. The head is small and sparsely formed, leaving a permanent foam that shows itself capable of slightly more than moderate spotting.
The aroma's a bit difficult to draw out, though it's clear caramel malts are used and there's a barley-like note as well. There's a hint of earth with a "younger" woody element.
There's a bit more to the flavor, a stronger malty foundation for a bit of added complexity as more earth and a little bit of a woody, not-quite-meaty sort of smokiness eases in. Grains are firmer on the tongue, with some substance to them. Toasted dark breads ease out a very slightly tangy finish. Hop additions are noted in a slight leafy and herbal note
Starting off thin, the feel picks up with a malty smoothness on the palate, the body actually seeming to fill out with each sip. There's a light crispness from an appropriately low to moderate carbonation. After the buildup, though, it falls off again, losing both crispness and smoothness, but neither completely.

Pour of ruby-tinged brown orange with a creamy head of tan. Extremely light aroma of caramel. Rich smokey and peaty oat flavor, with earty oats and grain. Something to really bite into. Nice toothy sugar with caramel. Palate is attenuated and airy. Finish is dusting of dry euro hops.
