Pours a dark brown color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is tangy with only a slight hoppy bitterness at the finish. Easy drinking.

Sampling a 12 oz can at cellar temp and poured into a .5L dimple mug. No date stamp on can or label.
The beer pours a rich dark mahogany to coffee brown color. Light only passes through on the edges which reveals hints of garnet. A dense khaki colored head foams up about 0.5 cm and fades to a thin edge layer that remains through the sampling.
Aroma is grainy malt, some caramel and a bit of toasted dark bread. Some balance with faint grassy hops, but this is a malt forward nose.
First sip reveals a smooth texture and medium to light body with fine tingly carbonation. The beer is easy to drink.
Flavor is dark toasted bread and some caramel with hints of some dark chocolate too. Not really a hop flavor and as expected, no alcohol presence in bite or warmth.
Beer drinks easy and is gone too quickly. Glad to have had this one!

Pours a deep, dark brown color, clear; appears opaque in the glass; huge, thick, lasting head, khaki colored. Outstanding aroma; chocolate and cocoa; rich malt sweetness. Heavenly flavors; milk chocolate with a dab of vanilla; subtle bitterness hidden deep behind the malt sweetness. Dense, silky, heavy body.

This Czech dark lager drinks like a Baltic porter. There is a density of character and flavor with every sip.

This is an absolutely lovely beer from start to finish. However, in a craft beer world where the Czech Dark Lager style is becoming ever more represented, including by some fantastic breweries, this one simply lacks the complexity and richness - as well as the soft mouthfeel - to stand out.

It's very good and quite enjoyable, highly recommended, but not quite world class.

Matte black to dark mahogany with a moderately short but foamy tan head.

A pleasant roast actually exhibits light notes of an Aecht-like smoke with a very fittingly balancing, woody bitterness. It verges near hickory before offending to gain an herbal, almost piney bite that is then countered by a hint of gingersnap molasses with the faintest hint of dark fruit that rounds it out well.

The medium body starts slick then crisps up finely before coming to a semi-dry finish.

My uncle gave me one more can to take home from his secret wedding stash, which I used to fully flesh this review out 15 or so days later.

No visible canning date

Poured at fridge temp into a willi glass

Pours deep brown that it's opaque except for at the edges and even deeper amber/ruddy chestnut. 1.5 finger head, tan and settled fairly quickly. 4

Immediately hit with a killer nutty aroma, beautifully balanced by some sweet malts. Hands down (I'm 99% sure) my favorite aroma for the style. 4.5

Initial sip gives some roasty and slightly toasted malt, more dark bread and biscuit and touch of tangy hops which was surprising but good. 4

Body is on the lighter side but leaning towards moderate with a pleasant dark buttery and crusted bread aftertaste. Fairly dry, suggesting sips and swallows more and more often until it was sadly gone. 4.5

Overall, from my experience CDLs vary... Well in all aspects a bit, but this is absolutely my favorite of the style, and would be a highly regarded and regularly consumed brew in my home! 4.5

Pours the necessary black coffee brown and looks black in the glass; its one finger beige head leaves scant lacing.
The aroma is lost on my Covid damaged nose.
The taste is roasted malts, smooth dark chocolate, toasted biscuits. this, IMO, really nails the style for my personal preferences. I need to go acquire some more.
The feel is not particularly lively, but that didn't slow me down a bit. It might be a tiny quibble considering how much I enjoyed this, but a little more carbonation might be good.
If you like the style and can get it, I encourage you to try it. Really quite good.
