12oz bottle poured into a stemless red wine glass...

Appearance - a deep, hazy amber with 1 finger head that dissipates too quickly

Smell - spices and malt

Taste - medium body dominated by the malts and sugars with alcohol present in the finish

Mouthfeel - nice full presence but lacks sufficient carbonation

Drinkability - the look, smell and taste are satisfying but the lack of carbonation significantly hurts this beer. This could be a top contender when the carbonation is addressed.

12 oz brown bottle poured into a chalice – 10.5 ABV per 6-pack carrier

Arbor Brewing Phat Abbot Triple pours a fuzzy peach pale yellow/gold color with a one finger white head. Aroma is of spicy fruits. Medium bodied with a fizzy carbonation. Taste is a little peppery with tropical fruits, banana, and sweet candied malt character that lingers on a long slightly spicy finish.

Of the two Michigan triples I have tasted Dark Horse Sapient Trip Ale, and Phat Abbot Triple, Phat Abbot has a stronger flavor, and aroma, and gets the “nod” from me. Arbor Brewing makes a good American Triple.

tasted this at the michigan brewers guild winter beer fest.
from my notes i was served a deep copper sample with no head.
the aroma was rich with malt and orange.
the flavor was citrus, spice, malt, candy sugar.
the mouthfeel was mod. thick, it coated the inside of the mouth and throat.

Yellow.

Chalky, powdery, fresh perm-like nose. Quite odd really, possessing a sweet & doughy maltiness, spicy hops and a hint of wheat.

Dry, light, sugared flavor, somewhat metallic, with hints of titanium, orange, coriander and phenols. On the finish, candy sugar comes through along with well pronounced spicy hops. Yummy.

This beer was served very fresh as it had just been tapped in the last day or so. Deep gold in color with a chill haze. The aroma is malty and fruity. The candi sugar comes through with a sweet taste and some maltiness is present. A subtle alcohol presence is detectable. I don't taste any hint of cloves. Feels low in carbonation. A hint of bitterness from the hops. I love the taste of fresh Belgian style ales on draught. The logo on the beer list has a picture of Fat Albert in an abbot's dress. Get it while it is available. A dubbel should be available soon too.
