Clear ruby-brown color. The head disappears almost as quickly as pouring a soft drink, leaving only a patch of bubbles. Moderate flow of bubbles rising from the bottom. No lacing. Very nice color.
Strong clean berry scent, like a mix of blackberry and raspberry. Light malt and faint scent of something volatile like mint. Swirling the glass kicked up a stronger berry and a light funk.
Sour funk, almost puckering. This is joined by a light blackberry/raspberry with a light biscuit malt. Some bitters kick in towards the end. The aftertaste boosts the hops and bitters while the rest of the flavor profile slowly fades out to only sour berry. The berry is amazingly clean, even though it isn't distinct between blackberry and raspberry. This has not been cooked to the point where the berry fruit is beyond caramelization as usually happens with these berries.
Slight tongue tingling. Evolves into a light foam. Medium body. Light astringency.
Of the 4 sours in the pack, this one is the most sour and has the most hops. The higher alcohol content probably also had an overall effect on the flavor, although it wasn't distinct as its own flavor. Despite the funk, the scent profile was also a bit simpler than the rest.
