Appearance: Almost no head or retention. Nice full brown color.
Smell is not hard to detect at all. Surprisingly a lot of pale malts come through. Little caramel malting is apparrent. Chocolate malts are there but are overpowered by the pale malts. Grainy overtones are apparaent as well. Smells like some unfermented barley went into this brew.
Taste: Pale malts dominate over chocolate malts. Caramel malts are barely detectable and I wonder if they are even there. Slight licorice and cofee undertones with a low citrusy hop bitterness. 25 IBUs.
Mouthfeel is a little weak and mildly creamy. I expect more from porters though.
Not a bad brew, but less than stellar. Sort of a lazy attempt at the style. Not hard to drink, but not something I'd seek out with better porters out there.
