Notes:
Australia is well-known for being the home of flora and fauna that exist nowhere else on earth. Among these creatures (both creepy and cuddly), you can also encounter some unique and highly sought-after hop varieties. Only in Oz can you find Galaxy, Ella and Vic Secret hops, which lend striking tropical fruit, citrus and peach flavors to this booming behemoth of an IPA. Originally released to commemorate our 19th Anniversary, this is a recipe that’s garnered constant rumblings requesting its return, as steady and powerful as the sound of a didgeridoo…

12oz canned (RVA) 4/19/23 EB 8/17/23 poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 9% ABV. The beer pours bright golden amber with light khaki head. The head recedes to a rocky cap and leaves a web of lacing. The aroma is tropical fruit salad with hints of malt. The taste is bittersweet with more tropical fruit, citrus, lite pine and general earthiness. The malt is soft with light caramel and the finish is firmly bitter. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Not overly sweet, but sticky with all the hops. Overall, excellent.

Poured from a can dated 4-20-2023
This beer is a very clear pouring beer. Beautiful golden pour with some small carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. The head is 2 finger, and white. The head looks quite fluffy and frothy. The head retention is quite good, and as the head dissipates, there's some great lacing on the glass.
The nose has some tropical notes. I get some mango, and grapefruit. I also get a bit of pine in the aroma.
Taste - This beer starts off with the mango and grapefruit flavors. These flavors are quickly vanquished, and a slightly dank flavor hits in the middle. This doesn't last long, because the back is all bitter and pine, and very pleasingly so.
The bitter feeling from the hops really lingers in my throat. The body of this beer is very full.
Damn, this is a palate wrecker, and I love it. I know the NEIPA is the rage today, but I just love a well made bitter IPA.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of fluffy foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of pineapple, grapefruit, orange and caramel. Sweet grapefruit taste with a citrusy kick and a toasted caramel finish. Nice bitterness.

So we have ourselves a ginger IPA here. What’s good is that it’s not like that squirrell son of a gun who sat behind you in the 4th grade. You know, the guy that loved to chew on erasers. That said, DUS isn’t exactly Jessica Chastain either. It’s in-between. Or maybe it’s Jessica with no make up on, chewing on an eraser.

Poured out of a 12 oz. can into my tulip glass, this beer pours a mainly clear, medium golden color w/ a bit of a copper hue color w/ lots of streams of little bubbles continuously and fairly rapidly rising to the beer's surface. Has a very nice white head that’s an inch thick when first poured. Head eventually settles to a thick surface coating along w/ a very thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with big cluster swirls of foam on the beer's surface and some excellent lacing. Aromas of some slightly biscuity malts w/ a hint of caramel sweetness along w/ floral hops and grapefruit, pineapple, and mango fruit notes. The flavor profile certainly follows suit, with the aforementioned biscuity malts w/ a slight hint of caramel sweetness that's followed by pungent, juicy, grapefruit, pineapple, honey dew melon, cantaloupe and mango fruit notes and floral hops w/ a good amount of bitterness. The fruit and hop flavors certainly dominate the flavor profile, and that's just fine. The hop bitterness is strong, but it is refined and nuanced. It doesn't clonk your tongue over the head. Has a slightly crisp, smooth, somewhat dry, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Another excellent Imperial IPA from the fine folks at Stone!

Dusting off their 19th Anniversary Ale, Stone Brewing looks to the down under hops of Galaxy, Ella and Vic Secret to fuel a bitter bomb of a double IPA that's back by demand.
As Downundertruck IPA pours with an bright golden color, its striking clarity is as inviting as is its tropical perfume. With citrus aromatics playing out underneath, there's a decidedly juicy, fruity and intoxicating aroma to take the shape of pineapple, lemon and mango. Its mild honey-dipped malt sweetness is supple and sweet to give the fruity impressions a rounded, juicy and vibrantly ripe character upon initial impressions.
And as the sweetness retreats and the hops abound, the flavors systematically turn to dried, dehydrated and condensed fruit flavor. The dried apricot, white grapefruit, mango, passionfruit and bitter orange notes gain intensity and eventually develop into a full spicy, curacao-like bitter taste. But in the meantime, an acute lemony tang develops along with kiwi, melon and a trail of pink grapefruit.
Deceptively light and dry in body, the imperial ale drinks much more like a drier, crisper and refreshing standard American IPA. Bracingly bitter in finish, the beer is spicy, leafy, stemmy and herbal with sassafras and lemon verbena with a mild alcoholic acetone burn.

From a 3-week-old can, pours a brilliantly clear deep gold. Smell combines fruit, resin and diesely dank. Taste follows and is very, very good. Big hit of bitterness in the finish. Not boozy at all to me. I loved the original Thunderstruck and this one is also killer.
