"The Tiger Cub" Saison

March 13th, 2015 - My impression is that there are multiple cubs in this litter of saisons. Mine was aged in white wine barrels, so I'm bracing for some acidic squealing. But before that I eye the color, which is somewhere between gold and hay, and a little soupy, too. The aroma is much crazier. I first sense the smell of fresh laundry, and then a field of flowers on a warm afternoon day. From there I'm transported to the beach, sipping a pina colada. And each sip restarts the cycle from soft clothes on the drying line, to a Jimmy Buffet music video. The flavors reflect the beach notes most strongly, leading with more of the sweet tastes of pina colada and coconut. I also glean some pineapple, but more like the center and base of a pineapple, bitter in places and not always sweet. It's a fascinating saison and packs a wallop, but I think it is a character and quality that I'm not jiving with.
