single picked up at Total Wine in Vancouver, WA (I believe); 11.13oz bottle poured into Pizza Port can-style glass; first beer from South Korea
p- black w/ a small tan head
n- med; sweet nutty and grassy notes
t- toasted malt grassy hops, and subtly sweet nutty notes; just a touch of roast; def more of a schwarzbier than a stout; not a bad profile
mf- thin; light-bodied with high carb; seems to carry the profile well, though
o- not bad, all-in-all; exceeded my expectations

A: dark brownish-red with very little head after an aggressive pour
S: burnt white bread
T: bland flavor except for some strange metallic notes
M: thin and watery
O: Just say “No”! A waste of 5 bucks and brain cells.

Dark appearance with tan head that dissipates very quickly. Very little aroma. Taste is a thin malt that can marginally called a stout.

Bought a 6-pack $5.99 Don Quijote
Smell of chocolate roasted malts
Medium-low carbonation
Dark black color
Medium mouthfeel
Smooth, creamy, light roasted malt flavors
Overall pretty good for the cheap price. It's not craft beer level, but for a macro brew type its good.

Another bottle bites the dust in today's attempt to eradicate single-O Porters, Stouts & Old Ales from the insidious Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody. This one came to me courtesy of my local, in-person trader, tone77. Many thanks!
From the bottle: "Since 1933"; "From German Dark Roasted Malt".
Grrr. A twisted-up, twist-off cap! I really dislike those things as it deprives me of even the satisfaction of a Pop! I hate bottles & this would be one of the few saving graces to one. You had better believe that I upended the bottle & spanked it like the guy in the recent commercial with his lunch! I got two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, light-tan head for my efforts. Color was Very Dark Brown to Black/Opaque (SRM = > 34, < 44) with NE-quality clarity & garnet highlights. Nose was roasty & smoky, but with a caramel-like sweetness. I would have to agree that, despite its labeling, it is not a Stout. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, nothing of note, but at least it was not watery. The taste had a slight sourness to accompany the caramel & smoky flavors noted on the nose. It just seemed to be all over the map with no clear-cut destination. Finish was semi-dry, but I was having a tough time nailing down its style - Lager or Ale; Schwartzbier or Stout? This was an oddball that I will leave in my rearview mirror.

To start off this is not a stout - it's a black lager (aka swarzbier - translates directly it's "black beer") so don't get fooled by the name. Pours like a stout, smells like an amber, tastes like Hite lager with cold toasted coffee added. Surprisingly refreshing and light for a "dark beer". An interesting beer but nothing to race out and buy. I picked this up at the local Korean market just for kicks. I wouldn't buy it again.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a very dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, dark breads. Taste is malts, grains, some bread, a hint of sweetness. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is easy drinking and a decent beer.

Dark brown with a tan head.
Smells very lager like, and fairly light.
Tastes a bit thin with loss of caramel and brown sugar.
Mouthfeel is fairly thin, carbonation is moderate.
Overall, a fairly bland brew. Tastes like it was made quickly and in a big batch.
