A surprise from my brother in law...what a guy.
Pours a peach color w/ a full finger of the brightest head I've seen...disappears quite rapidly with very little lace.
Aroma is faint...a hint of cloves and some banana, but very subdued.
Taste is somewhat disappointing...not much going on as far as flavors. No real spice, a mild earthy taste and a bit light on the malt.
Mouthfeel is somewhat thin...feels watered down in some way.
This is not a bad beer, but not much to keep me interested. I recommend enjoying this one damn near room temp...a bit more sweetness shines through. Not very bitter nor dry in the finish.
Glad to have tried it and I look forward to their Porter and Espresso Stout in the fridge...I expect better things.

purchased at the brewpub in Richmond. Poured a cloudy deep amber color with nice puffy white head that feel to a fine ring. Smell is nice and spicy with the promise of a great brew. Taste is fantastic with nice cloves and corriander. Finish is nicely dry. This is an incredible beer. I wish I would have bought more.

Found this in the case down at Richbrau and brought it home. Pours a cloudy orange with a big-bubbled foamy head which coats the glass for a bit. Ultimately the head dissipates to a ring. Smell is citrus rind and spice (cloves, allspice) but no barnyard notes at all. Taste is lemon rind, carbonic bitterness, and spices. Very solid for a low ABV. The mouthfeel is its only weakness, feeling bodiless. The finish is far too wet. A dryer mouthfeel and you have a great saison. As it is, it is a great summer drink. Try it if you can.
