Big Mountain TPA first ascends with citrusy hops and follows with subtle notes of Earl Grey tea. A refreshing and smooth experience, this pale ale offers an enchanting combination of fresh aroma and light maltiness.

The easy-going, yet bold flavor reflects the stirring excitement of a day on the mountain.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance –The beer pours a lightly hazed golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has little retention, fading rather fast to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is quite heavy of a citrus hop smell with some other bready aromas. Along with these smells comes a good deal of an earl grey tea and a little bit of herb.
Taste – While the nose didn’t show a ton of tea, the taste begins quite big of an earl grey tea flavor mixed with some other tastes of cracker and bread. There is just a hint of citrus hop upfront, which seems to fade as the taste advances, only to be replaced by some herbal and earthy hop. The tea grows even stronger in taste toward the end, and with a little bit of black pepper and more herbal flavors, one is left with a rather heavy iced tea taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is average. For the big iced tea taste, the feel is rather nice and makes for a very easy sipper.
Overall – While I am not a big iced tea/hot tea lover, the tastes are rather well done for this brew. It’s a little on the slightly more malty iced tea side with a decently dank hop taste and a lighter sweetness. Overall a fairly nice brew to try and if you are an iced tea fa, then this may be right up your alley.

On tap in Whitefish, MT. This is a unique brew and a must try when they have it. It's got the citrusy character of their IPA but with definite notes of bergamot and earthiness from the tea. Combined with a pretty decent malt backbone, this one works quite well. I would say it's a bit more acidic than the IPA but still quite drinkable and with a unique taste profile. If I were to complain, I'd say that the carbonation could use some tweaking as it felt a bit strong up front and a bit watery at the end. Cheers!

22ounce bottle.

Cloudy, orange gold with firm medium head that dissipates slowly and leaves nice lacing. Nice dank nose with notes of orange and bergamot. Bright citrus flavours with softer notes from the tea. Pleasant bitterness. Medium body with forceful carbonation that I'd prefer toned back a little. Very enjoyable, and original pale ale that was much appreciated. Thanks again Bunman3 for the bottle!

Fantastic. I really want to give it a 5, but I need to give it another try.
The Earl Gray infused Pale Ale is almost better than Great Northern's Going to the Sun IPA.
Light body, earthy undertones, floral overtones, super smooth finish.
Very well balanced with Caramel and Pale malts and Summit, Calypso, Citra and Simcoe hops.
Refreshing and delicious.

Appearance - Nice medium brown amber that's light and, for lack of a better term, tea-like. Smooth eggshell white head that's light and creamy.

Smell -great notes of citrus and undertones of bergamot keeps things nice and crisp. Malts only play a light touch.

Taste - Lemony front but quickly quieted by the tea herbals, the malts give a nice balance although are a little too light and fade quickly back to the tea herb astringent characters on the finish.

Mouthfeel - light bodied and dry

Overall - This is definitely a TEA pale ale. Light and crisp refreshment that could easily take the place of an iced-tea on a hot day. This is a good experimental brew and fun to interpret.
