8.45 ounce can, best by NOV 2 (or 21) 2025 stamped on the bottom of the can, dating is kinda smudged. Served in a Hoppin' Frog snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around a while. Decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like vanilla, whiskey, roasted malt, oats, dark chocolate and molasses. I think the taste is pretty similar to the aroma, but there's also some coffee, caramel, oak, dark fruit and earthy flavors noticeable too. Seems sweeter tasting compared to the QORIS, TORIS, and DORIS I drank earlier today. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one, thought all the Rocky Mountain variants I've tried were tasty!

Black color. Medium-sized, beige head. Chocolate, roasted malt. molasses and whiskey in the aroma. Roasted bitterness and whiskey dominate the taste. Good.

Copenhagen 27/2 2025. Cute 25 cl can from God Knows Where. Close up of a barrel and Hoppin' Frogs happy little beer mulching toad on the can.
Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized beige head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin patch of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is intense with a sweet and slightly sugary malty odor mingling with earthy fumes and a healthy scent of Whiskey. Dark roasted malts, toffee and brown sugar. Leather. Molasses. Whiskey and wood.
Light carbonation. Thick, oily, viscous, soft, flat and creamy texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a light sweetness followed by a stronger sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a tart streak. Light boozy burn. Lingers fr a while. Finish is rather dry.
Dark, intense and boozy nose and a rough boozy tang.

Rocky Mountain B.O.R.I.S. from Hoppin’ Frog. 8.45 fl oz can. Purchased from Hoppin’ Frog, Akron, OH, 05/10/24. $ 6.68 (Including tax), $ 0.791/fl oz. Reviewed 12/12/24 (Review 3416). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “BEST BY NOV 1 2025.” (I think, somewhat smudged) Stored at 39 degrees F at home. Served at 56.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 59.5 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), slight haze.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same with slight precipitate. When rear-lite, same with ruby at the edges.
Head: Average (Maximum 1.2 cm, aggressive center pour), sand. High density. Rapidly drops to a 0.3 cm crown and a thin, partial, cap.
Lacing – None
Aroma – 4.25 – Initially bitter charred malt, but sweetens as it breathes. Roasted malt, chocolate, hint of vanilla (barrel notes?), no whiskey, no ethanol (9.4% ABV, as marked on label). No disulfide or diacetyl.
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins slightly sweet with chocolate, then becomes slightly bitter with roasted malt and coffee notes not detected in the aroma. No hops, no alcohol. No disulfides, no diacetyl. Gastric warming builds.
Palate – 4 – Full; creamy; soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Another good iteration of the basic B.O.R.I.S. formulation.

"Best by 11/2/25"; drank 10/4/24 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A violent pour yielded a big, noisy dark tan head; nice lacing remained.
Marshmallow, lavender, mild milk chocolate & faint...plastic (?) notes in the nose.
Thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Milk chocolate, mild lavender...and again, a plastic note on the palate.
This just tasted artificial & off to me. It was somewhat drinkable but I can't say I'd want this again.

Last tiny can to try of the 4 varieties of Rocky Mountain _.O.R.I.S.
Deep, dark, heavy roasted coffee and cocoa dominate. It's incredibly intense. The barrels aren't shy either, plenty of bitter wood and hot booze.

The standard deep rich base stout but the whiskey/alcohol flavor dominate this beer for sure (more so than I like usually) but this is still a fine brew.

Found this 22 oz. bottle hanging around with several identical friends, so I took one from the back, away from the evil light. Split with my wife.
Black. Minimal if any head. The nose is a bit of whiskey, bit of malt. Tame/boring.
Rocky Mountain B.O.R.I.S. is still aggressive after however long it’s been. Whiskey ravages the palate like an Astro banging on a trash can, those fuckers. Mid-palate brings lighter kicks of dark chocolate, vanilla, plenty of oak, booze, slight roast. Still a touch harsh, like sipping or injecting bleach, but I’d bet time has smoothed it out. Big portions, please.
For the whiskey lover this is ideal, but I’d like for the base stout (which the ‘Frog does so well) to shine through brighter. Still very good.

22oz bottle. No dating information found on bottle or on the label.
Black colored body, with the tiniest garnet back lit edge. One finger of mocha brown head, which settles back to a partial island and ring. Leaves behind spots and strings of lacing.
Aroma is rather mild, and expresses dark roasted malts and oak whiskey barrels, with char and buttery notes.
Taste is heavily whiskey laden, over the dark roasted malts, caramel, toffee, and a bit of coffee. After taste is smooth and lacks bitterness.
Medium to thick mouth feel, with the whiskey burn smoothed out by the buttery note. No vanilla. Good carbonation.
Easy drinking, but still has lots of whiskey notes. The actual higher ABV% is not real noticeable.

Had on tap. After tasting and handing to a friend I asked, "would you like some beer with your whiskey?". Wow this is booze city on the smell, and the biggest factor in the taste. Woof! Nice roasted malts in the background, frolicking with coffee, wood, smoke, soil, dark chocolate, and tobacco, unaware of the booze monster about to consume them. A sipper to be sure
