The fifth release in their Tadpole Series--a very small batch brewed in collaboration with one of their bartenders. Cake Eater is a carrot cake inspired beer, with Outta Kilter wee heavy as its base, brewed with lactose sugars, cinnamon and nutmeg then conditioned on raisins, carrot juice and vanilla beans.
Cake Eater is orange with a bubbly carbonated head that quickly fades to a thin ring.
The smell is like a sweet red, with a powerful bubblegum aroma, possibly due to the carrot juice, vanilla and lactose sugar combination.
Upon first swig, it actually does taste a lot like liquid cake is swirling around the palate. Flavors of brandied raisin and light nutmeg are most prominent. Cinnamon is not really present, so all in all this is definitely not the spice bomb it was anticipated to be. There is a layer of frosting-like flavor that comes across that makes Cake Eater very sweet and sugary. Not a whole lot of the carrot comes through, but that's also usually the case when in actual cake form.
