The sixth release in their Tadpole Series--a very small batch brewed in collaboration with one of their bartenders. An Apple a Day is an IPA brewed with 06277, Motueka and El Dorado hops, then conditioned on chamomile, apple butter, and grains of paradise.
Solidly amber body with a khaki head that dies fairly quickly.
Faint apple on the nose, where tea is actually more prominent. A little butter creeps in here and there but not a lot.
Spicy taste outdoes the floral and apple elements pretty handily. It's a bit like a tea with a heavy shot of spiced rum added, while also being a mix between East and West coast IPA styles. I get a taste of carrot at times, and a hint of caramel apple.
Semi-dry and bitter finish. Not a bad IPA if you don't know about the additional elements, which are mostly lost.
