Not really wheaty, not really sour, not really bitter, not really fruity, not really boozy, not really anything. Unlike anything I’ve ever tasted, I’ll give it that and an A for effort, but a little too all over the place for my taste.

Faintly cloudy, amber colored body with decent carbonation but little head. Peach and gin aroma; sour apple. Muddied flavors of fruit and crackers; an odd sourness and bitterness. Heavy body; a bit warm; a little syrupy.
When it comes to taste, this beer is mess. The taste jams together dull flavors of wood and old fruit with an almost butterscotch-like note. There is also an almost acrid quality to things, perhaps a bit of a fusel alcohol tinge. Not a pleasant beer and certainly not one I will finish nor look for again.

I feel that my reaction to this may be fairly "individual" and may not represent a general reaction. Hoppin Frog is always adventurous and this is no exception. The appearance is a hazy gold, the smell is interesting and unpleasant. Foreign and unfamiliar to me. The gin barrels have perverted the Hefeweizen to an... alright, as I've acclimated and let this warm slightly it has grown on me. It's weird. It's like food but nothing I've eve eaten. Same with taste. I'm giving it straight 3's because it's very creative and definitely unlike anything I've ever tasted. Another reviewer mentioned corn. And apple. It is exactly that. Sweet corn and Honeycrisp. Part of an excellent braising liquid for a pork shoulder. You may like drinking it. I want to cook with it. And I'm really picky about such things.... I edited this because the beer lingered with me. I didn't finish it, I dumped it. I tried to be open minded but honestly I really would cook with it but drinking it was not very pleasurable. It still gets a 3 because it not garbage, love and imagination went into this. I just really don't like it.

This burnt gold beer has a slight haze with a moderate off-white foam settling to a convex film and creamy collar.
Smell is light, botanical berry with faint toasted wheat, yellow apple, honey, wildflower and gin.
Interestingly, this is less heavy and more floral and bright for a wheat, due to the gin. The wheat flavor is light, and it's obviously hotter with the gin, which brings a floral, botanical lily accent. Notes of corn and apple are also present in this medium bodied, fully frothed beer with a semi-dry to dry tingly finish.
This Rare Beer Club entry sounds intriguing, and it certainly is, but I think only a select palate will thoroughly enjoy the profile this achieves.
