Immensely smooth, yet complex and substantial. Made with our Baltic brewing friend Wojtek, a master of the style from Brewery Widawa in Poland. Pirating this awesome recipe from Baltic history, we created this crazy collaboration by getting all the traditional malts, lager yeast, and even fresh hops from his source in Poland! Then for distinct hop character, we increased the kettle aroma hops by 3X. Plus, to make it world-class. we added a touch of dried plum which is often part of the flavor profile of the best Baltic Porters.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, raisin, plums, fig, date, cherry, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coffee, nuttiness, licorice, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, plums, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, raisin, plums, fig, date,
cherry, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coffee, nuttiness, licorice, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/peppery hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, toasted dark/brown bread, coffee, nuttiness, licorice, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, plums, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and minimal acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Nicely clean on lager flavors, not overly fruity on yeast character. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Slightly increasing warmth of 9.5% after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Baltic porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, plums, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV; with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Spot on for the style, but a bit more bitter/drying than expected from the extra kettle hops. Very rich/complex malts, balancing earthy hops, and complementing plum fruitiness. Not overly roasty on malts. A really enjoyable offering.

Dull black with a big convex tan dome slowly fading to a creamy ring.

Smell is quite roasty and savory with black licorice and amaretto.

A big roastiness that's almost smoky comes out first on the palate, with accents of sassafras, nuts, and a hint of blueberry tang. This is certainly at Stout level, with a big froth, medium to full body, and semi-dry finish. Hints of black licorice and wood come out as it warms.
