Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours nearly black appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin chocolate head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with light char, bakers chocolate and a hint of dried plums and hops. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, rich bakers chocolate, coffee beans and fudge; mild grassy hops in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess and nice mouth feel. As advertised, this is a Russian imperial stout on steroids. Deep, rich chocolate malt with full flavor and feel. A bit of booze in the aroma, but the depth for the malt keeps the massive ABV well covered. Looks, smells and tastes deep and strong. Remarkably drinkable for such a rich flavor. Nicely done. Hoppin' Frog is a master brewery for big stout.

8oz can from Tavour. Had side by side with TORIS.
Huge tan/burnt orange head. Dense and inferred better than TORIS despite higher abv.
Nose richer…TORIS but fruitier, more hop influenced.
Taste mirrored this. A huge rich dark malty imp stout with chocolate but less roast and instead a lot of of ale dark fruits. Much more complex with a welcome touch of light fruits sugar. Not sweet; not pastry…just a pleasant enhancer. Very surprised to see this in an otherwise experiment in just making bigger/bolder.
Seems crazy but my furst thought wa that was very similar to my first time side by side with Pliny the Elder next to Pliny the Younger… expecting bigger but found instead more complexity; richer more diverse flavors; as if it had changed not just added.
Much lighter and drinkable body if however at 15.7% it had the slight tingle burn I grew used to when Avery played with higher abv. On more thought QORIS seems more Avery than just bigger Hopping Frog. And works for me!

Poured at cellar temp. Pours a thick black with a good amount of brown head. The nose is intense! Dark chocolate, charred wood, roasted malts, dark coffee, charcoal, and maybe a hint of dark fruit.
The taste is insane. Super intense, but not overly bitter like some of the classic imperial stouts. This has a nice smoothness to it. Dark chocolate and coffee are huge. Tobacco, burnt wood, a hint of burnt toffee, light vanilla, hoppy, roasty, and a slight brown sugar sweetness.
This is just a fantastic beer. Mouthfeel is thick with a lingering note of tobacco, dark chocolate, and charred wood.

Pitch black. Liquid jet fuel with lots of chocolate/cocoa character; definitely boozy at 15.7%. Good balance but definitely a bit sweet. Full bodied with a warming bitter dark chocolate finish.

Black color. Thin, beige head. Coffee, dark chocolate, roasted oat malt. Malty taste is balanced by hops. There is a strong hoppy/roasted bitterness in the aftertaste. Good.

Q.O.R.I.S. from Hoppin’ Frog. 8.45 fl oz can. Purchased from Hoppin’ Frog, Akron, OH, 10/12/24. $ 5.72 (Including tax), $ 0.677/fl oz. Reviewed 14/12/24 (Review 3418). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “BEST BY JAN 10 20??.” (I think, somewhat smudged) Stored at 39 degrees F at home. Served at 56.6 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 60.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), nearly opaque.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, opaque even at the edges.
Head: Small (Maximum 0.5 cm, aggressive center pour), latte. High density. Rapidly drops to a 0.2 cm crown and a scum-like cap.
Lacing – None, as expected at 15.7%.
Aroma – 4.25 – Initially distinct roasted malt. No hops. No ethanol (15.7% ABV, as marked on label). No disulfide or diacetyl.
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly bitter with roasted malt and brownies. No hops, no alcohol. No disulfides, no diacetyl. Gastric warming is subdued for the ABV.
Palate – 4 – Full; creamy; soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Another good iteration of the basic B.O.R.I.S./Q.O.R.I.S. formulation. Otherwise, nothing special.

Pours like motor oil, minimal head. Not much to the aroma. Flavor is dark roasted chocolate and coffee, absolutely delicious. Fairly sweet but not cloying. Fairly thick and viscous. Overall I love this one.

Aroma is the expected huge roasted malts, dark fruit and chocolate/dark chocolate. The flavor is dark fruit, huge chocolate and a slightly vinous/alcoholic/acidic roasted malt finish.

De Beer Republic. En copa Teku. Con altramuces. Jugando a Walking Dead Final season. Perfil RIS superintenso, donde ella el elevado alcohol no molesta durante el trago nada pero la birra se termina subiendo a la cabeza un monton

Massive, slightly sticky, some fudge brownie sweetness but heavily hopped and aggressively bitter. This is definitely in the Russian imperial style in the most bruising way. Inky and only slightly carbonated, it has a pleasingly smooth feel that envelops the tongue. The small can is the right size poor for this palate-smasher.
