Got in a BIF from Ozzylizard. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 8/17/2025. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy amber/orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing and light streaming carbonation on the glass. Aromas of big cake batter, vanilla, bread dough, cracker, pear/apple fruits, herbal/grassy hops, and light pepper. Taste follows with cake batter, vanilla, bread dough, cracker, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine, pear/apple fruit, and yeast earthiness. Light-medium pine, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malts, and sticky hop mouthfeel. Light resins and increasing dryness with no cloying/astringent flavors. Light warmth of 9% lingering after the finish. Pretty smooth. Slight hop oxidation note, especially in aromas. They did a good job for a dessert inspired white stout, but it is a bit too yeasty in flavors.

I thought this was decent, the white stout part always throws me off, this reminded me more of a pastry blonde ale from Cerebral I had based on King Cake. This is very sweet and sugary like it should be but anything from the stout base is basically gone. Fun to try, not bad.

16 ounce can, best by AUG 17 2025 stamped on the bottom. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a Hoppin' Frog snifter, the beer pours a somewhat clear golden color with about an inch or so off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. It has a big birthday cake smell to it, lots of vanilla and yellow cake, along with some bready malt. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also some nuttiness and a bit of Angel Food cake noticeable too. Seems more like birthday/yellow cake to me than Angel Food cake, but no big deal. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. If you like sweeter tasting brews then this for you!

1 PINT can
Served in a stemless wine glass
This beer pours a brilliant golden hue. It is topped with a fleeting tan head that leaves little lacing.
It smells almost disgustingly sweet. Surprisingly, it does smell a lot like angel food cake. Strong vanilla smell
Cloying, but it does resemble angel food cake. Big vanilla flavor
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
It does a good job of capturing elements of angel food cake. It is pretty sweet though, but I should have known that going in.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This odd brew pours a clear subtly chill
hazed amber tinged golden with a moderate head of white foam that
settles to a thin ring with faint lacing. Nose of angel food cake.....period.
Trying to bust a sensory gland over this one would be a waste....it smells
perfectly like angel food cake. Flavors lightly expand on the nose with
angel food (duh) cake, honey sweet malts, vanilla frosting, and hints
of coconut. Mouth feel is medium, medium light carbonation, and a
sweet verging on cloying but well presented in the dessert brew
realm.
Overall---one of my favorite breweries. Is it bad...NO. It is
a dessert brew and worthy of a split 2 or 3 ways. More than
that and you will hate it. Unique and a first in the taste realm
I have experienced.
Cheers

Angel Food Cake from Hoppin’ Frog. Purchased at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA, 21/09/22. $ 6.00 (Including tax)/16 oz can ($ 0.375oz). In reefer at store, stored at 40 degrees at home. Reviewed 01/10/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “BEST BY AUG 17 2025”. Served at 50.9 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King Snifter. Final temperature 55.2 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), hazy and translucent. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour), floral white, high density but fizzy, rapidly diminishing to a ring of near-microscopic bubbles and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3 – Sweet like cotton candy. No hops, no malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 3 – Follows nose. No malt, no yeast, no hops. No ethanol (9 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Weak gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Medium, bordering on syrupy, light carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3. Must be feeling generous this morning. This was listed on BA as a malt liquor and on the can as a pastry stout. Either one works. Sweet with little flavor and medium alcohol content – priced like a stout but easily passes as a malt liquor. Not good. One and done.

This beer is gross. Overly sweet sugar bomb. If there was a rating lower than one it would have it!

Slightly foggy yet sparkling amber with a short fuzzy khaki head dying to nothing.
Taste is cotton candy and angel food cake flavor. A hint of a crisp pils corn and grass qualities exist, but far in the background.
The sweet tingly medium-light body finishes semi-sticky with a faint touch of lemon vanilla frosting on the swallow.
While aroma is bang on angel food cake, taste is just far too cloying. It's kinda good, but kinda weird.
