Burnt dark brown, lighter around the edges, with a short fuzzy tan head.
This is a uniquely enjoyable Black IPA, combining expected notes of pine and chocolatey roast with coconut and vanilla. It's definitely a nicer combination than I was expecting. There's a hint of butterscotch pie, particularly on the nose, and maybe even popcorn or hazelnut, but I think it's just the coconut in concert with base beer playing tricks on me. While it starts off sweet and smooth, it becomes semi-bitter on the swallow.
The round medium body has a softly crisp carbonation with a little heat on the exhale. It's a little woody, and a little catty, but not too assertive at all.

My initial review was from a draft pour, but after popping a bottle at home and reading the label, it mentions fruit...? As I sit with it over the course of the full bomber, closing in on room temp I do detect notes of passion fruit or pineapple, but they are very faint, and it's sort of confusing to me too. Either way, no one has mentioned what exactly has been added to this beer overall, and the popcorn element I mentioned above becomes a bit more buttery, which, over time, begins to seem accidental.
