In the beginning, there was an innovative West Coast brewer by the name of Pete, who developed a wicked-good and ground breaking beer that became known as the defacto-standard American Brown Ale. It boasted an abundance of specialty malts and Brewer's Gold hops to create a great taste previously which was unbeknownst to mankind. Now, together with Pete we have created Re-Re-Pete 3X as a triple version to pay homage to the innovative energy of American brewers, and deliver a great historic beer to true beer lovers!

Mahogany with a 1/2" light tan head, which fades to a wisp. Light lacing.

Aroma of caramel, toffee, molasses, toast.

Taste follows nose: caramel, toffee, molasses, toast.

Medium body, light carbonation. Sticky, semi-sweet finish.

One of the best Brown Ales I've had. Very tasty.

Pete’s! So many memories. So few of them in focus. And a chance to (kind of) do it again from an 8.45 oz. can.

The pour is a clear amber (odd for a brown ale?). It smells like a still is leaking. Onto a pine tree. Nearly pure alcohol.

Re-Re-Pete 3x is like comparing Total Recall (1990) with Total Recall (2012). While technically related, they’re as different as Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) & Pat Mahomes (Twins). Like the nose, the taste is imbued with pure moonshine; but hiding amongst the booze is some tasty stuff. Heavy toffee, pan-burnt brown sugar, pumpernickel, & a long slide of malty sweetness that sticks. Molasses finish & mouthfeel, too. Appropriately sippy-cup sized container.

Novelty? Gimmick? Sure. Still a very good beer. Get back in the game, Pete.

Thanks to Ozzylizard for this one from the recent NBS BIF #14. 8.45oz can (dated 5/7/20) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a fully opaque dark brown color with a quarter-inch of tan head that had low-moderate retention and no lacing.

The aroma had a lot of full, rich, deep malts, some sweetness, and just a hint of alcohol. A very slight stone fruit scent hung around in the background.

Very similar on the tongue, with the 15.6% ABV showing up much stronger. Lots of alcohol heat, especially on the back end.

The body was full, smooth, rich, and had a semi-sweet finish.

Drinkability was good, this was pretty easy drinking, as far as a big beer goes.

Overall, a tasty and interesting brew. Certainly worth your time if you see it.

250ml can from Tavour. Dark Brown, clear, fizzy beige head. Aroma is woody, raisins, toffee. Taste brings heat, mild sweet notes, nutty, woody, pit fruit. Despite the initial heat in the taste, it doesn't come across as boozy, but it is labeled 15.6%, so be careful.

Baby (250ml) can poured at fridge temp. Pours a really nice dark brown with a reddish note. Good amount of light brown head that quickly dissipates.

Nose: I immediately detect hops. Pine needles, tree sap, wet grass, toffee, plums, and a floral note. Really nice nose, but honestly a bit tamer than I would have expected. The alcohol doesn't seem over power anything.

Taste: Wow! This is a big-time beer. The alcohol is very detectable on the taste. Definitely getting a good dose of bitter hops, especially on the aftertaste. It integrates really nicely with the toffee notes. This is borderline American barleywine to me. I can't imagine that this wouldn't round out a bit with some age. The big dark fruits come through, especially as it warms a bit. Plums and figs mostly. Definitely getting some citrus peel as well. This has a lot going on!

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a bitterness that lingers for a long time on the palate. Overall, this is a really interesting sipper. Worth a try, but I can't imagine it would be something I would drink frequently.

A: The beer is clear but very dark amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar consisting of medium-sized bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of alcohol are present in the nose along with notes of toffee-like malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional hints of dark fruit with slight bits of molasses.
M: It feels nearly full-bodied and somewhat syrupy on the palate with a moderate amount carbonation.
O: This beer is like a Brown Ale on steroids and has intense aromas and flavors of malts with a candy-like syrupy mouthfeel. It's almost like someone took a Brown Ale and froze out some of the water to create an EisBrown.

Clear, dark mahogany body; excellent carbonation; thick, off-white head, dense and semi-creamy in texture; spotty rings and patches of foam inside the glass. Rich malt aroma; figs and nougat. Rich malt flavor with a boozy wallop; bright sweetness mixed with an earthy nuttiness; spicy. Heavy body; bracing alcohol cut and warmth; earthy sweetness.

At a bracing 15.6 % ABV, it's rather nice this beer came packaged in a 250 ml (i.e., 8.45 fl oz) can. Not that I, personally, would have minded a larger serving. As an amped-up imperial brown ale, I say this is a well done iteration of the style. The high octane alcohol presence is front and center yet there is plenty of rich and complex malt goodness rolling around to delightfully entertain your taste buds.

Re-Re-Re-Pete from Hoppin Frog. Picked up some 8.45 oz cans at the brewery, price not noted. Stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 11/7/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
“Happy 34 th Anniversary” on the front label and stamped “CANNED ON 5.7.20” on the bottom of the can. Served at 55.3 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 57.5 degrees.
Appearance – 3.75.
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), clear.
Body – Brown (SRM 20), opaque. When rear-lite, a beautiful translucent ruby color is evident.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.5 cm, aggressive center pour), wheat, medium density, short retention, diminishing to a 1.5 – 2.5 mm crown of tiny bubbles and a thin scum partially covering the surface.
Lacing – Tight band of near-microscopic bubbles. Fantastic, considering with the 15.6% ABV, no lacing was expected.
Aroma – 4.5 – Begins sweet with weak roasted malt and brown sugar, no hops, no yeast. A deep horning to accentuate the aromas reveals massive ethanol.
Flavor – 4.5 – Begins slightly less sweet than the nose suggests with toasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, and brown sugar. Maybe a trace of Baker’s chocolate but unsure. No hops, no yeast. No ethanol (15.6% (!) ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. Gastric burning does occur following the first swallow, but this quickly dampens to a fortifying warmth. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4.5 – Full, creamy to lightly syrupy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Wow! If all brown ales were this good, they’d move up considerably in my estimation and drinking rotation. As the glass warms above 57 degrees, the ethanol becomes strikingly evident. Any evidence of chocolate is at best problematic. Overall, this is one I’ll drink at home when I don’t have to drive anywhere.

Pours a clear dark copper with minimal head. Great malty aroma, lots of caramel, brown sugar, loads of booze, some orange zest. Very flavorful - I get cherries?, brown sugar, light caramel, orange? Pretty boozy, and the cherry and orange flavors surprised me. Thick and syrupy, full bodied. Overall a great sipper, love the 250ml can size. Perfect serving amount.

From the energy drink can in a snifter from Bluejacket74----cheers brother!
This solid little offering pours a lightly murky dark brown tea color with
a modest head of off white foam that settles to a thin ring with no lacing,
but with motion it has some nice legs! Nose of caramel malts, raisin, dates,
sweet brown sugars, and astringent booze notes. Flavors hit the note nicely
with a dark bread dusted with brown sugars, touched with light cherry notes,
dashed with bitter sweet chocolate, orange zest, and assertive herbal hops
amidst the strong booze elements. Nice mouth feel; medium body, rich,
warming, low carbonation, and a dry booze laden finish.

Overall, a SOLID little brew!

Cheers

8.45 ounce (250 ml) can, canned on date of 5.7.20 printed on the bottom. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a mostly clear dark reddish/brown color with not quite a inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like caramel, raisins, candied oranges, dark bread and some booze. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some toasted malt and red grape flavors too. Definitely somewhat sweet and boozy tasting. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit creamy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. It'll be interesting to see how this one ages. Worth a try if you haven't had it before, it's a sipper! I liked it, but with that being said I do think some age would help this one.

Good beer, but certainly not your typical brown ale. With an abv 15%+ this is very strong and super boozy. 8.45 oz is a nice size given the high alcohol. Not great but would drink again if given the opportunity

Yowza, this is a beast. Glad it comes in little 8.45 oz cans because thats just the right serving size. Total booze bomb of a beer. It doesn't really drink like a brown. If I were blindfolded, I would guess I was drinking Arrogant Bastard. it's got some bitterness mixed with syrup, mixed with a touch of spice. Not an awful beer by any means but not quite what I was expecting out of a brown. At 15.6% though, it'll out a nice little burn in your belly and a slur in your speech.
