Hazy dark amber with a short off-white head settling to a bubbly ring.
I thought I'd end up liking this more than their Port BA Berliner, but it's not as clear cut as that.
The gin is definitely present, but not with the overwhelming punch you often find in beer treatments. It brings a mild botanical accent to the lemony-orange tartness. However, the base here translates as a little maltier than I remember their most recent Imperial Berliner being. This gin variant was clearly produced way before they ever packaged the non-ba versions, so it may have been tweaked for the canning run. Either way, the malt brings a sort of toasted graham note.
The medium body is lightened by a crisp but airy fizz, but finishes a bit chewy dry, and with far more booze than detected in other variations--not just in feel and taste, but also in the head and gut, as quickly becomes apparent.
