Mocha In the Moonlight – from Hoppin’ Frog. 22 oz bomber picked up at the brewery (Rare Beer Club from 2021). In reefer at store, acquired 02/08/23, $ 12.71 (Including tax), $ 0.58/fl oz. Reviewed 10/09/23 (Review 3150). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated bottle. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 50.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 56.3 degrees F.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), hazy.
Body – Medium Amber (SRM 12), opaque. Under direct light, same with moderate precipitate present. When rear lite, translucent amber.
Head: Average (Maximum 1.5 cm, aggressive center pour), buff, high density, fizzy. Quickly disappearing to leave neither crown nor cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.5 – Initially very weak vanilla, cocoa, and coffee. No yeast, no malt, no hops. No ethanol (10.5 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins slightly sweet with a weak fruity overtone, basically weak coffee and a hint of chocolate. No yeast, no malt, no hops. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Slight gastric warming, very smooth.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium; watery; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) A rare miss for the Frog, at least for my taste buds.

Hazy amber-orange with some fish food floaters dispersed under its short but dense khaki head that quickly dies to a fluid surface.

Like a white Russian meets s'mores, it's remarkably similar to Frog Abides, exhibiting hot cocoa marshmallow notes in its vanilla, with some boozy heat and a toasty graham-like malt. After sitting on my second bottle for five months, it comes across as a bit artificial, too.
